Background: Machine learning (ML) based mortality prediction models can be immensely useful in intensive care units. Such a model should generate warnings to alert physicians when a patient's condition rapidly deteriorates, or their vitals are in highly abnormal ranges. Before clinical deployment, it is important to comprehensively assess a model's ability to recognize critical patient conditions.

Microplastics are plastic particles with sizes of less than 5 mm. The ubiquity of microplastics in the environment has raised serious public health concerns. Microplastics could disturb the composition of the gut microbiota due to both chemical composition and physical interactions, which might further influence the metabolism and immune function of the host.

Developing cost-effective and high-performance n-type thermoelectric (TE) materials is a significant challenge for their utilization in organic electronics. Clarifying the influence of molecular structure on TE properties is of utmost importance. In this work, the analysis on how the shape and polarity of organic molecules affect the thermoelectric performance of n-type composites based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) is presented.

This report documents the first human case of colonization in a peritoneal dialysis catheter, identified through DNA sequencing after a 52-year-old man observed brownish particles within his catheter. Despite the absence of peritonitis symptoms, prompt catheter removal and antifungal therapy successfully resolved the infection. Fungal cultures revealed cerebriform (brain-like) colonies, confirmed as using multi-targeted molecular diagnostics.
