: Chemical debridement is a fundamental step during the surgical treatment of both acute and chronic periprosthetic joint infection (PJI). However, there is no consensus on the optimal solution, nor is there sufficient evidence on the optimal irrigation time and combination of solutions. In an in vitro study, our group recently demonstrated that sequential combination debridement (SCD) with 3% acetic acid (AA) followed by 10% povidone iodine (PI) and 5 mM hydrogen peroxide (HO) was the best strategy for reducing bacterial load.

Background: Prevention of iron deficiency in suckling piglets by intramuscular injection of a standardized amount of iron dextran or gleptoferron in the first days of life can lead to over- or underdosage with respective health risks. Currently, combined iron products containing an active substance against coccidia are also used on farms. When using a combination product targeting two diseases, an adjustment of the necessary amount of iron to prevent anaemia in the frame of a farm-specific treatment protocol is not possible.

Objective: To identify strengths and challenges in the provision of assistance in dying (PAM) based on the experiences of the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) euthanasia referents.
Method: Mixed-methods study (n=31), using two closed-ended questionnaires (quantitative analysis) and two structured interviews with open-ended fields (qualitative analysis), self-administered via email. All ICS referents (n=50) received them.

Preclinical rodent models are essential research tools for improving understanding of physiological aging processes in humans. However, the translatability of findings obtained leveraging rodent models to humans is limited, likely due in part to differences in macronutrient composition of the diets. Here, we investigated the impact of a 3-month diet intervention in old male C57BL/6JN mice in which the macronutrient composition was aligned with that of a midlife/older adult in the United States, compared to a traditional rodent diet, and assessed various phenotypes that are typically altered with aging.
