Published: October 2001

The molecule of title compound, C(2)H(7)N(3)O(2), has a zwitterionic structure. All non-H atoms, apart from the terminal N atom of the NH(3) group, lie in the same plane, with a maximum deviation of 0.056 (1) A for the amine N atom of the nitramine group, whereas the deviation of the terminal N atom of the NH(3) group from the same plane is 1.222 (2) A. Intermolecular hydrogen bonds within the crystal form a three-dimensional network.

Metal-organic frameworks generated from oligomeric ligands with functionalized tethers.

Chem Sci

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of California, San Diego La Jolla California 92093 USA

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) can be prepared from oligomeric organic ligands to prepare materials referred to as oligoMOFs. Studies of oligoMOFs are relatively limited, with most existing reports focused on fundamental structure-property relationships. In this report, functional groups, such as terminal alkynes and pyridine groups, are installed on the tether between 1,4-benzene dicarboxylic acid (Hbdc) groups of the dimer ligands.

Alkaline-earth metal oxides with the rocksalt structure, which are simple ionic solids, have attracted attention in attempts to gain fundamental insights into the properties of metal oxides. The surfaces of alkaline-earth metal oxides are considered promising catalysts for the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM); however, the development of such catalysts remains a central research topic. In this paper, we performed first-principles calculations to investigate the ability of four alkaline-earth metal oxides (MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO) to catalyze the OCM.

A Hoveyda-Grubbs (HG)-type olefin metathesis complex with a selenoether moiety at the terminus of phenoxy moiety was synthesized. The complex showed direct selenium-atom coordination to the ruthenium center, resulting in higher thermodynamic stability compared with the parent HG catalyst. The selenium atom binding enhanced the tolerance to protic solvent molecules in ring-closing metathesis of -tosyldiallylamide and diethyl diallylmalonate, and also in the cross metathesis between 3-butenylbenzoate and methyl acrylate.

Article Synopsis
  • Microbial metabolism is highly adaptable, allowing growth on varying carbon sources through fermentation and respiration.
  • A mathematical framework was developed to analyze cellular resource allocation alongside redox chemistry, highlighting how metabolism balances carbon, electrons, and energy while treating biomass as both a product and catalyst for growth.
  • The study found that proteins in microbes evolve to enhance redox matching, suggesting that genetic changes that may not benefit individual proteins can still be favored if they improve the overall fitness of the microbial population.

Magnetic topological Weyl fermions in half-metallic InCoSe.

J Phys Condens Matter

January 2025

Qingdao Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shandong University, Qingdao 266237, People's Republic of China.

Magnetic Weyl semimetals (WSMs) have recently attracted much attention due to their potential in realizing strong anomalous Hall effects. Yet, how to design such systems remains unclear. Based on first-principles calculations, we show here that the ferromagnetic half-metallic compound InCoSehas several pairs of Weyl points and is hence a good candidate for magnetic WSM.
