Veterinary intervention in zoological species can be complicated by species-specific social dynamics. African wild dogs are a pack species and removal or separation of an individual may disrupt established pack hierarchy resulting in conspecific aggression. Therefore, medical interventions that optimize a quick return to health are ideal to minimize the duration of absence from the pack.

Full labia minora reconstruction with labia sharing flap: a case report.

Case Reports Plast Surg Hand Surg

August 2024

Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV), University of Lausanne, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Full labia minora reconstruction can be necessary due to congenital malformation or genetic syndromes, but more often is required following oncologic excisions, or debridements after vulvar or perineal infections. It is important to note that full labia reconstruction can be needed after genital mutilation, or iatrogenic deformity after previous labia reduction procedure. A 37-year-old female patient, with vulvar necrotizing fasciitis after a marsupialization of the right Bartholin's gland, was referred to the Gynecology and Obstetrics unit.

Two steps are able to lead to a significant decrease in the incidence of skin cancer overall and/or to its parallel and successful surgical treatment. The first step concerns its non-occurrence or less frequent clinical manifestation and is largely related to the modern concept known as prevention, but not the one mainly related to solar radiation, but: 1) informing patients about the possible contamination of certain drugs with carcinogens/nitrosamines/NDSRIs and 2) making clinicians aware of the modern concept of limited to completely eliminated intake of nitrosamines/NDSRIs in medications. The ineffectiveness of either of these entities could in all likelihood be seen as one of the major causes of the headline growth in the incidence of skin cancer and keratinocytic cancer in particular.

Background: Transsylvian approaches are a cornerstone of complex cranial operations, with wide applicability across cerebrovascular, skull base, and neuro-oncology operations. Deep lesions, especially those involving the basilar apex, midbrain, or interpeduncular fossa, require wide exposures that may be inhibited by the presence of a large complex of superficial sylvian veins (SSV) draining into the sphenoparietal sinus. This report describes technical and clinical aspects of the sphenoparietal sinus transposition (SPST) technique.
