Objective: To determine how much patients know about lithium therapy and to examine factors that might influence this knowledge.
Setting: Lithium outpatient clinic.
Patients: Patients (n = 123) affiliated with a lithium outpatient clinic (mean treatment duration of 12 years). Diagnoses, according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 3rd edition, revised, included bipolar disorder, recurrent unipolar depression and schizoaffective disorder.
Outcome Measures: Quantitative assessment of lithium-related knowledge, obtained by responses to a questionnaire adapted from the Lithium Knowledge Test, and factors affecting this knowledge.
Results: Age was negatively correlated with lithium therapy knowledge scores, whereas duration of treatment, sex, education and diagnosis appeared to be unrelated to knowledge.
Conclusion: Patient education about lithium treatment should be intensified, especially for older patients taking lithium because adverse drug reactions pose a greater risk to the elderly.

This study aimed to evaluate patients' satisfaction with the esthetic outcomes of combined endodontic and prosthetic treatments for devitalized or dyschromic teeth, a condition influenced by various intrinsic and extrinsic factors that present a growing concern in modern dentistry. A total of 104 patients, including 43 men and 61 women, underwent treatment using lithium disilicate restorations for esthetic zones and zirconium oxide restorations for regions with higher occlusal demands. Patient satisfaction was evaluated through a post-treatment questionnaire, classifying responses as either "satisfied" or "dissatisfied".

Background: Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is a rare, often underrecognized complication of long-term lithium therapy. Lithium-induced nephrogenic diabetes insipidus results from chronic renal exposure, leading to significant polyuria, dehydration, and hypernatremia.
Case Presentation: We describe a case of a 55-year-old White caucasian male with a schizoaffective disorder managed with lithium who presented with altered mental status and electrolyte abnormalities following a recent stroke.

: Life events and lack of social support are risk factors for a relapse or recurrence in patients with a bipolar disorder, yet studies focusing on older adults remain limited. Our aim was to investigate the influence of life events and social support on the course of bipolar disorder in older adults. : A retrospective cohort study included patients aged 55 years and older in treatment for bipolar disorder and who used lithium.

Bipolar disorder (BD) frequently occurs in children and adolescents, but pharmacological treatment in this group presents significant challenges. Clinicians often struggle to find appropriate treatment guidelines due to the primary focus of current guidelines on adults, leaving specific recommendations for the acute and maintenance treatment of BD in children and adolescents either insufficient or entirely absent. This gap is partly due to the lack of targeted studies in this age group, leading practitioners to rely on clinical experience and studies conducted in adults.

Introduction: Patients with bipolar disorder (BD) demonstrate episodic memory deficits, which may be hippocampal-dependent and may be attenuated in lithium responders. Induced pluripotent stem cell-derived CA3 pyramidal cell-like neurons show significant hyperexcitability in lithium-responsive BD patients, while lithium nonresponders show marked variance in hyperexcitability. We hypothesize that this variable excitability will impair episodic memory recall, as assessed by cued retrieval (pattern completion) within a computational model of the hippocampal CA3.
