Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), serves as a reliable and vital biomarker for precise diagnosis and effective monitoring of hepatocellular carcinoma, requires precise detection. Herein, a sandwich-structured electrochemical immunosensor was crafted, employing three-dimensional layered porous carbon modified with gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) as the substrate and Au NPs/CuS as the labeling compound for accurate and sensitive detection of AFP. Aims: Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP)-producing colorectal adenocarcinoma (AFPCRA) is uncommon, with obscure clinicopathological features and prognosis.
Methods And Results: In this retrospective comparison study on surgically resected colorectal adenocarcinomas (CRA, n = 2389), we investigated and compared clinicopathological and prognostic features between AFPCRA cases with elevated pre-operative serum AFP levels, as the AFPCRA study group (n = 49, 2.1%), and the exact sex-, age- and stage-matched CRA cases as the control group at a 1:2 ratio during the study period from 2011 to 2021.

Endoscopic resection has been applied as an absolute indication for early gastric cancer showing intramucosal cancer ≤ 2 cm in diameter, differentiated-type adenocarcinoma without ulcerative findings. We describe the case of a 76-year-old man who underwent radical gastrectomy for alpha-fetoprotein-producing gastric cancer, in which the depth of invasion was clinically diagnosed as T1a after lymph node metastases were detected. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed a type 0-IIc tumor nearly 10 mm in diameter at the antrum.
