Unlabelled: Granular cell tumor or Abrikosoff's tumor is an infrequent and usually benign neoplasm which is found predominantly in the head and neck region, especially in the tongue. Its esophageal location is unusual, where most of them present as small, well circumscribed lesions which follow a benign course. Because of its low incidence in this site (less than 200 cases having been reported until 1993), we report two cases of esophageal granular cell tumors, both of them in male patients.

Case 1: A 34 year old patient who presented with epigastralgia, heartburn and abdominal distention. He was treated endoscopically because he had a firm new growth in the lower third of the esophagus measuring 1 cm in diameter.

Case 2: A 50 year old patient who presented with digestive tract haemorrhage (hematemesis and melena) 5 cm above the cardias a submucosal polyp was found of 0.8 cm in its largest diameter.

Microscopy: Both cases showed a subepithelially located new growth, composed of polygonal cells with eosinophilic granular cytoplasm, small rounded nuclei, and conspicuous intracytoplasmatic positivity for S100 protein. With these elements we reached the diagnosis of granular cell tumor. The bibliography is reviewed and an update is made of its histopathologic characteristics in addition to histogenetic and clinical considerations.

Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) may develop depression, which can affect their rehabilitation. However, the underlying mechanism of depression in SCI patients remains unclear. Previous studies have revealed increased p38 MAPK phosphorylation in the rat hippocampus after SCI, accompanied by depression-like behaviors.

Lung cancer represents a significant global health burden, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being the most common subtype. The current standard of care for NSCLC has limited efficacy, highlighting the necessity for innovative treatment options. Lidocaine, traditionally recognized as a local anesthetic, has emerged as a compound with potential antitumor and anti-inflammatory capabilities.

Neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) encompass a diverse set of malignancies with limited precision therapy options. Recently, therapies targeting DLL3 have shown clinical efficacy in aggressive NENs, including small cell lung cancers and neuroendocrine prostate cancers. Given the continued development and expansion of DLL3-targeted therapies, we sought to characterize the expression of DLL3 and identify its clinical and molecular correlates across diverse neuroendocrine and non-neuroendocrine cancers.

8-OHdG and Nrf2 Protein are Expressed Consistently in Various T Stages of Invasive Breast Carcinoma.

Asian Pac J Cancer Prev

Department of Anatomic Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia.

Objective: Oxidative stress prompts breast cancer cells to adapt by raising the lethal threshold and enhancing the antioxidant mechanism, thereby enabling survival and continuous proliferation that facilitates tumor progression. Nrf2 and 8-OHdG are indicative of oxidative stress activity and impact the progression of breast cancer. We aimed to analyze the expression of Nrf2 and 8-OHdG in various T stages of breast cancer in our hospital.

Objective: To determine the correlation among five different types of tumor regression grading (TRG) systems. Test-retest reliability analyses were conducted at two time points to assess the internal validity and consistency of these five TRG systems.

Methods: A test-retest study was performed in 34 pathologically confirmed rectal adenocarcinoma specimens.
