Transcriptome dynamics in the Arabidopsis male germline during pollen-pistil interactions.

Plant J

March 2025

Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (ITQB NOVA), Av. da República, Oeiras, 2780-157, Portugal.

When pollen lands on a receptive stigma, it germinates and extends a tube inside the transmitting tissue of the pistil to deliver the sperm cells for double fertilization. The growth of the pollen tube triggers significant alterations in its gene expression. The extent to which these changes occur in the vegetative cell or extend to the sperm cells transported by the tube is unclear but important to determine since sperm cells are believed to acquire a competency for fertilization during pollen-pistil interactions.

The Evolution of ABC Importers.

J Mol Biol

Department of Molecular Biosciences, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL 60208, USA. Electronic address:

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences at Northwestern University. My research program investigates the structure, function, and regulation of membrane proteins, with a particular emphasis on ATP-binding cassette (ABC) importers. ABC transporters are a highly conserved superfamily of transmembrane proteins found across all organisms.

Developing high-performance n-type organic mixed ionic-electronic conducting (OMIEC) polymers with simple structural motifs is still challenging. We show that high-performance, low-threshold-voltage n-type OMIEC polymers can be achieved using a simple diketopyrrolopyrrole unit flanked by thiazole groups, which is functionalized with glycolated side chains. Interestingly, the regiospecific sp2-N position in the repeating unit's thiazole governs the polymer chains' solvation and molecular packing.

Background: Bacteria from the genus Polaromonas are dominant phylotypes found in a variety of low-temperature environments in polar regions. The diversity and biogeographic distribution of Polaromonas have been largely expanded on the basis of 16 S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. However, the evolution and cold adaptation mechanisms of Polaromonas from polar regions are poorly understood at the genomic level.

Research on the seismic performance of slopes is of great significance for ensuring the long-term stability of engineering projects, protecting human life and property, and reducing economic losses. Previous studies have shown that when studying slope stability, it is essential to consider the dependence structure among soil parameters. Therefore, in this study on the seismic reliability of reinforced slopes, the Copula function was introduced to represent the dependence structure between soil cohesion and the internal friction angle.
