Smear layer removal efficacy of different irrigation techniques in conservatively instrumented root canals.

J Dent Sci

July 2024

Department of Pulp Biology and Endodontics, Division of Oral Health Sciences, Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences, Tokyo Medical and Dental University (TMDU), Tokyo, Japan.

Background/purpose: Establishing effective irrigation methods is warranted to ensure the predictability of minimally invasive root canal instrumentation. This study aimed to compare the smear layer removal efficacy of different irrigation techniques in root canals instrumented with TruNatomy nickel-titanium rotary instruments.

Materials And Methods: Experiment 1: Extracted human mandibular incisors were instrumented using TruNatomy Shaping Files up to Small (#20/0.

Vitiligo is considered an autoimmune disease, and its treatment is challenging. We assessed and compared the effect of fractional erbium:yttrium-aluminum-garnet (Er:YAG) laser-assisted delivery of platelet-rich plasma versus microneedling (Mn) with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in enhancing skin repigmentation in localized stable vitiligo patients. In total, 40 patients with localized stable vitiligo were selected in a random manner into two similar groups (20 each).

Article Synopsis
  • The erbium-YAG laser is a well-established treatment in dermatology, but there's a lack of research on its effectiveness and side effects specifically for Indian skin concerning superficial skin conditions.
  • A study with 250 patients evaluated the efficacy and safety of the erbium-YAG laser for various superficial dermatoses, assessing outcomes based on lesion clearance percentages.
  • Results showed significant improvement in conditions like verruca plana and seborrheic keratosis, with some adverse effects being common, such as post-laser erythema and pain; however, the laser provided good cosmetic results and a low recurrence rate.

Objectves: Different surface preparation and treatment methods may have dissimilar effects on the microleakage of composite resin. This study was conducted to determine the deproteinizing effect of 10% bromelain enzyme, 10% papain enzyme, CO , and erbium-YAG laser in regard to decrease in the microleakage of composite restorations.

Materials And Methods: Thirty teeth were selected and 60 class V cavities were prepared on the lingual and buccal sides.
