Background And Objectives: To estimate the minimum volume of processed blood necessary for the purpose of donor leucocyte infusion (DLI), we determined the number of CD3+ cells harvested by apheresis from normal donors and examined adverse events during the procedure.
Materials And Methods: Leukapheresis utilizing the COBE Spectra' was performed a total of 24 times from 12 normal donors. Blood counts were obtained and the number of CD3+ cells was evaluated before and after apheresis and in the peripheral blood products. Complications associated with the procedure were documented.
Results: Blood products contained, on average, 51.1% CD3+ cells. A linear correlation was found between the number of CD3+ cells collected and the processed blood volume, up to 12 000 ml (r = 0.930, P < 0.001). Cytoreduction was observed in all donors after apheresis. In particular, the platelet and lymphocyte values decreased to approximately 70% of the preapheresis value. Two donors reported adverse effects: one was a mild vaso-vagal reaction and the other was citrate-related lip paresthesia. These symptoms were mild and disappeared spontaneously.
Conclusions: We found a linear correlation between the number of CD3+ cells collected and the processed blood volume, which enabled us to estimate the minimum volume of processed blood necessary for DLI. The adverse events observed were acceptable.

Purpose: This project aimed to minimize medication errors and improve safe medication administration in an oncology setting in Muscat, Oman.
Methods: The study, spanning from the second quarter of 2022 to the first quarter of 2023, employed a one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design, assessing key performance indicators (medication error and medication administration errors rates per 1000 patient days) on quarterly basis before and after implementing targeted interventions. Interventions focused on medication management processes and Healthcare Informatics System (HIS), Environment and equipment, and Education The project utilized the FOCUS PDCA (find, organize, clarify, understand, select, plan, do, check and act) methodology.

Objective: Interleukin IL-17A and IL-17F are critical cytokines involved in inflammatory processes. Genetic variations in IL-17A and IL-17F might be linked to chronic hepatitis C (CHC) and an increased risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), a cancer associated with long-term inflammation. This study aims to examine the relationship between specific polymorphisms in IL-17A (rs2275913) and IL-17F (rs763780) and their association with HCV-related HCC in an Egyptian population.

Background: Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from preexisting ones via capillary sprouting, is a crucial process in tumor growth and metastasis. As a tumor's angiogenic capacity increases, its microvasculature, measured by micro vessel density (MVD), also increases. This study aims to evaluate the expression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) and CD34 in oral epithelial dysplasia and oral squamous cell carcinoma through immunohistochemical methods.

Atherosclerosis is one of the leading causes of ischemic cardiovascular disease worldwide. Recent studies indicated that vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) play an indispensable role in the progression of atherosclerosis. Exosomes derived from mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have demonstrated promising clinical applications in the treatment of atherosclerosis.

Fostamatinib had superior efficacy to a placebo and acceptable safety profiles for at least 1 year in a phase 3 study of Japanese patients with primary immune thrombocytopenia. Here, we report the 3-year safety and efficacy of fostamatinib in that study. Data from 33 patients who received at least one dose of fostamatinib were analyzed.
