Sewer cleaning has always been difficult and unhealthy work. Paris had to contrive, for sewermen, specific flushing units for removing grit from its interceptors. These machines, which are over a hundred years old and only take power from the water flow, could not be replaced by more mechanised systems based upon different concepts. It appears from these setbacks that all the connections with the past should not be severed; on the contrary, one should initiate a process relying upon a thorough review of the existing equipment and a new approach to in-water grit flushing. The resulting data then served as a basis for devising the concept of a new flushing machine which, though not revolutionary, will meet the operators' expectations.

The acquisition of knowledge and skills does not occur in isolation but learning experiences amalgamate within and across domains. The process through which learning can accelerate over time is referred to as learning-to-learn or meta-learning. While meta-learning can be implemented in recurrent neural networks, these networks tend to be trained with architectures that are not easily interpretable or mappable to the brain and with learning rules that are biologically implausible.

Background: Less than one-third of sub-Saharan Africans have access to improved water sources. In US, Indian, and African studies, Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is increased among women with poor water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). We examined water source, sanitation (latrine type), and rainfall in relation to the vaginal microbiome (VMB).

The interconnected systems of lakes of Bengaluru, India, experience tremendous stress due to unsustainable urbanisation. Traditional lake-centric research approach struggles to capture and address this issue due to the cascaded nature of impacts in interconnected lake systems. Hence, this study assesses the impact of urbanisation on a lake series scale, focusing on the Yele Mallappa Shetty Lake series (YMSLS).

Hemodialysis (HD), from the clinical perspective, involves the HD machine, blood lines or tubing, and a dialyzer that mimics the physiologic action of the kidneys to clear the blood of wastes or by-products. A literature review was performed to identify preventative measures of coagulation during HD treatment. EBSCOhost, Academic Search Premier, MEDLINE, and PubMed were used.

Background: United States transplant centers have low rates of liver allograft utilization from donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors. Prolonged functional donor warm ischemic time (f-DWIT) is associated with worse outcomes; however, center practices regarding f-DWIT are unclear. As emerging technologies are changing the landscape of DCD liver transplantation, this study aims to gain insights into the practices of US centers around DCD liver allograft utilization.
