A newborn girl had chronic renal failure following prenatal exposure to an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, and a young infant with congenital nephrotic syndrome, showed persistent hypotension with neurological complications following bilateral nephrectomy at the age of 4 months. Both died. The renin-angiotensin system (RAS) is well-known for its regulatory function with respect to blood pressure, renal haemodynamics, fluid balance and electrolyte balance. Furthermore, its role in growth and differentiation of the kidneys and urinary tracts is becoming clearer. The RAS is highly important for the foetus and young infant. Extreme caution should be exercised with prenatal exposure to ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers and bilateral nephrectomy in young infants.

Background: Olive leaves are a rich source of polyphenols, predominantly secoiridoids, flavonoids, and simple phenols, which exhibit various biological properties. Extracts prepared from olive leaves are associated with hypoglycemic, hypotensive, diuretic, and antiseptic properties. Upon ingestion, a substantial fraction of these polyphenols reaches the colon where they undergo extensive metabolism by the gut microbiota.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a debilitating disorder that can lead to life-long disability, with a high incidence in Saudi Arabia. Secondary epilepsy and cardiac complications are common in CP patients. We present a rare case of a 17-year-old female with CP, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), secondary epilepsy, and a history of post-cardiac arrest, with home medications carbamazepine, risperidone, and sodium valproate.

We report a patient with autonomic dysfunction following acute SARS-CoV-2 infection, presenting progressively worsening severe orthostatic hypotension to the point where she could no longer sit or stand. The patient experienced a delay in diagnosis after an initial misdiagnosis of a functional neurological disorder. Persistent orthostatic symptoms prompted us to re-examine the diagnosis and explore other diagnostic tools, which ultimately allowed us to identify and treat severe immune-mediated orthostatic hypotension (OH).

Liddle syndrome, a rare form of monogenic hypertension, poses significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to its phenotypic variability and the need for genetic testing. The rarity of the condition, coupled with the limited availability of first-line treatments such as epithelial sodium channel (ENaC) blockers, makes this case report particularly urgent and novel, highlighting alternative management strategies in resource-limited settings. The aim of this case report was to present the diagnostic challenges, therapeutic strategies, and clinical outcomes of a patient with Liddle syndrome who did not have access to ENaC blockers, emphasizing the importance of early recognition and personalized treatment.

This report describes the development of oesophagitis and oesophageal stricture in a dog secondary to anaphylaxis. A 9-month-old male entire Brussels Griffon presented in anaphylactic shock after exposure to Hymenoptera species (Sp). The dog had a history of an anaphylactic reaction after exposure to Hymenoptera, successfully managed with antihistamines and dexamethasone.
