Background: Proteolysis targeting chimeras (PROTACs) are heterobifunctional small molecules that utilize the ubiquitin-proteasome system to selectively degrade target proteins. This innovative technology has shown remarkable efficacy and specificity in degrading oncogenic proteins and has progressed through various stages of preclinical and clinical development for hematologic malignancies, including adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML). However, the application of PROTACs in pediatric AML remains largely unexplored.

Objective: Lipids are key molecules for atherosclerosis, with tight regulation mechanisms, making them potential biomarkers for disease-specific diagnostics and therapeutics. Therefore, we aim to perform a systematic literature review on lipidomic analysis in serum/plasma and plaque samples of patients with carotid atherosclerosis.
Methods: We performed a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines on the lipidomic profile in serum/plasma and carotid artery plaques from patients with significant carotid disease by degree of stenosis in preoperative imaging and clinical presentation (symptomatic, asymptomatic, radiation-induced carotid disease).

Alginates are abundant linear polysaccharides produced by brown algae and some bacteria. They have multiple biological roles and important medical and commercial uses. Alginates are comprised of D-mannuronic acid (M) and L-guluronic acid (G) and the ratios and distribution patterns of M and G profoundly impact their physiological and rheological properties.

Aging is a complex process marked by various changes at both cellular and systemic levels, impacting the functioning and lifespan of organisms. Over time, researchers have pinpointed several significant hallmarks of aging that lead to the gradual deterioration of tissue function, regulation, and homeostasis associated with aging in humans. Despite this, the intricate interactions and cumulative effects of these hallmarks are still mostly uncharted territory.

Vitronectin (VTN) is an important extracellular matrix protein in tissue remodeling, but its role in COPD is unknown. We show that VTN regulates tissue remodeling through urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) signaling pathway in COPD. In human COPD airways and bronchoepithelial cells and the airways of mice with cigarette smoke (CS)-induced experimental COPD, VTN protein was not changed, but downstream uPA signaling was altered (increased plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, uPAR) that induced collagen and airway remodeling.
