Demineralized freezed dried bone allograft (DFDBA) is known as a bone inductive material, and used widely in periodontal and bone regeneration procedures. DFDBA can also be used for sinus floor augmentation prior or with implant placement. The present manuscript described cases of single-stage implants that were used successfully in areas where the maxillary sinus was augmented with DFDBA simultaneously with implant placement (Case 1) or in a second procedure, 18 months following grafting of the sinus (Case 2). These cases demonstrated the ability to use single-stage implants in the augmented maxillary sinus, in a separated or simultaneous procedure.

Aim: To evaluate in vitro the antibacterial efficacy and cytocompatibility of different implant-decontamination methods, using both 2D and 3D peri-implant mucosa models.
Methods: Four decontamination methods [chlorhexidine (CHX), electrolytic treatment (GS), curcumin (CUR), xanthohumol (XN)] were compared in four independent experiments, three with a 2D peri-implant mucosa model on titanium surfaces and another on a 3D peri-implant mucosa model. These decontamination procedures were tested for their antibacterial effect using a multispecies biofilm model with Streptococcus oralis, Actinomyces naeslundii, Veillonella dispar, and Porphyromonas gingivalis for 24 h.

Background: The initial outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve replacement in patients with left ventricular outflow tract calcification are poor. Furthermore, balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valve replacement is associated with an increased risk of annular rupture, and self-expandable transcatheter aortic valve replacement is associated with worse post-operative residual paravalvular leakage grades. Therefore, developing an optimal method for transcatheter aortic valve replacement for patients with left ventricular outflow tract calcification is desirable.

Objective: The aim of this study is to detail and evaluate the surgical procedure for perilymph sampling from the cochlear apex in the Mongolian gerbil.
Design: Perilymph sampling from the cochlear apex was performed one to three time in 12 male gerbils aged 8 to 12 months via the submandibular route. 11 of them were previously implanted with intracochlear implants loaded with dexamethasone and placed in the scala tympani, the 12th was used to collect control samples.

Background/purpose: Dental implants can restore both function and aesthetics in edentulous areas. However, the absence of cushioning mechanical behavior in implants may limit their clinical performance and reduce the long-term survival rates. This study aimed to establish an implant cushion mechanism that mimicked the natural periodontal ligament, utilizing the properties of composite hydrogels.

Background: Cartilage defects in the knee joint are areas of damage and wear to the cartilage that normally covers and protects the ends of bones. These defects occur due to sudden injuries, such as trauma or sports accidents, or due to chronic conditions, such as osteoarthritis. Cartilage acts as a shock absorber (cushion absorber), reducing the impact of mechanical stress on the joints, which helps prevent bone damage during movement.
