Ion attachment mass spectrometry is being developed for continuous measurement of perfluoro compounds (PFCs) found in the atmosphere as a result of semiconductor manufacturing processes. Studies were made on 5 greenhouse gases, CF4, CHF3, C2F6, SF6, and c-C4F8, to develop improved methods for PFC analysis, particularly at levels found in the atmosphere (the parts-per-billion concentration range). The results demonstrate the feasibility of performing real-time measurements of the trace amounts of PFCs encountered in process facilities by generating adduct ions from Li+ ion attachment. The identification and detection of c-C4F8 is described as an example of the utility of this new method.

Advances of Stimuli-Responsive Amphiphilic Copolymer Micelles in Tumor Therapy.

Int J Nanomedicine

Amphiphilic copolymers are composed of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic chains, which can self-assemble into polymeric micelles in aqueous solution via the hydrophilic/hydrophobic interactions. Due to their unique properties, polymeric micelles have been widely used as drug carriers. Poorly soluble drugs can be covalently attached to polymer chains or non-covalently incorporated in the micelles, with improved pharmacokinetic profiles and enhanced efficacy.

Polyethyleneimine-assisted one-pot synthesis of Au nanodendrites on carbon nanotube sheet as an efficient SERS substrate.

Mikrochim Acta

January 2025

College of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanjing Tech University, No. 30 Puzhu South Road, Jiangbei New Area, Nanjing, 211816, Jiangsu, China.

A polyethyleneimine (PEI)-assisted simple and efficient one-pot hydrothermal reduction method is reported to prepare high-quality gold nanodendrites (AuNDs) on a carbon nanotube (CNT) sheet. We observed that the prepared AuNDs have a well-defined backbone-multiple branching structure. With the systematical investigation of the growth mechanism, it was found that the bromide (Br) ion concentration has an essential effect on the formation of AuNDs.

Clearance of Intracellular Pathogens with Hyaluronic Acid Nanomicelles Responsive to HS and pH.

Engineering Laboratory of Chemical Resources Utilization in South Xinjiang, Tarim University, Alar 843300, China.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is an acidic mucopolysaccharide of animal origin composed of repeating disaccharide units of N-acetylglucosamine and glucuronic acid. Due to its excellent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and selective affinity for CD44 receptors on cell surfaces, HA is widely employed as a drug carrier. In our study, we aimed to target subcellular bacteria by grafting cystamine onto HA scaffolds through an amide reaction, producing a linker responsive to HS and pH changes.

New derivatives of the -decaborate anion [BH-O(CH)O(CH)C(O)-L-OCH] (An) (: L = Trp; : L = His; : L = Met; : L = Ala(2-oxopyrrolidin-3-yl) (Pld) were synthesized and isolated as tetraphenylphosphonium salts (PhP)An. Anions ; ; , and contain a pendant functional group from the L-tryptophan methyl ester, L-histidine methyl ester, L-methionine methyl ester, or methyl 2-amino-3-(2-oxopyrrolidin-3-yl)propanoate (-Trp-OCH, -His-OCH, -Met-OCH, or -Pld-OCH) residue, respectively, bonded with the boron cluster anion through the oxybis[(ethane-2,1-diyl)oxy] spacer. This pacer is formed as a result of the nucleophilic opening of the attached dioxane molecule in the [BHO(CH)O] starting derivative.

Novel Tripeptides as Tyrosinase Inhibitors: In Silico and In Vitro Approaches.

Int J Mol Sci

December 2024

Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Cracow University of Technology, Warszawska 24, 31-155 Kraków, Poland.

Tyrosinase is a key enzyme responsible for the formation of melanin (a natural skin pigment with ultraviolet-protection properties). However, some people experience melanin overproduction, so new, safe, and biocompatible enzyme inhibitors are sought. New tripeptide tyrosinase inhibitors were developed using molecular modeling.
