Here, we present a modular synthesis as well as physicochemical and biological evaluation of a new series of amphiphilic dendrons carrying triphenylphosphonium groups at their periphery. Within the series, the size and mutual balance of lipophilic and hydrophilic domains are systematically varied, changing the dendron shape from cylindrical to conical. In physiological solution, the dendrons exhibit very low critical micelle concentrations (2.

The Usefulness of Trivalent Phosphorus for the Synthesis of Dendrimers.

Molecules

January 2021

Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination du CNRS, UPR 8241, 205 Route de Narbonne, BP 44099, 31077 Toulouse CEDEX 4, France.

Dendrimers are hyperbranched macromolecules, which are synthesized step-by-step by the repetition of a series of reactions. While many different types of dendrimers are known, this review focusses on the use of trivalent phosphorus derivatives (essentially phosphines and phosphoramidites) for the synthesis of dendrimers. The first part presents dendrimers constituted of phosphines at each branching point.

Polyvinylidene difluoride film with embedded poly(amidoamine) modified graphene oxide for extraction of chlorpyrifos and diazinon.

Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Mazandaran, Niroo Havayii Boulevard, Babolsar, 47416-95447, Iran.

An effective, sensitive, relatively fast, and cost-effective method was developed to determine two types of selected organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs) including diazinon and chlorpyrifos in apple, peach, and four different water samples (river, sea, well, and agriculture wastewater samples) through applying poly(amidoamine)@graphene oxide-reinforced polyvinylidene difluoride thin-film microextraction (PAMAM@GO-PVDF-TFME). The extracted analytes were desorbed via organic solvent and determined using high-performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV). The strong interactions between the sorbent and selected analytes (coordination bonds, intermolecular hydrogen bonding, π-π interactions, and hydrophobic effects) made this TFME capable of high extraction performance and capacity.

Silk Fibroin-Based Materials for Catalyst Immobilization.

Molecules

October 2020

State Key Laboratory of Organic-Inorganic Composite Materials, College of Chemical Engineering, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, 15 BeisanhuanDong Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing 100029, China.

Silk fibroin is a widely and commercially available natural protein derived from silkworm cocoons. Thanks to its unique amino acid composition and structure, which lead to localized nanoscale pockets with limited but sufficient hydration for protein interaction and stabilization, silk fibroin has been studied in the field of enzyme immobilization. Results of these studies have demonstrated that silk fibroin offers an important platform for covalent and noncovalent immobilization of enzymes through serving as a stabilization matrix/support with high retention of the biological activity of the enzymes of interest.

Gene therapy is a new and promising tool to treat many severe diseases and the silencing of proteins is the safest and the most efficient tool to treat diseases because it does not induce changes in human genome and avoids a huge problem encompassing insertional mutagenesis. Using small RNAs to switch on/off target proteins is limited due to existence of some barriers for them in the human body (blood RNAses, serum albumins, cell walls, etc). For therapeutic applications they need the efficient and non-toxic carrier which will deliver them into cell cytoplasm.
