A new method for studying the oxygen-binding properties of blood is proposed, which is based on the analysis of transient processes on oxygen electrodes. The method was used to study the effect of sodium nitrite on the kinetics of dissociation of oxyhemoglobin in rat blood. It was shown that the rate of oxygen transport decreases at nitrite concentrations 1-5 mg/100 g body weight.
