In Vivo Detection of Lymph Nodes Metastasis of ESCC Using CXCR4-Targeted Tracer [Cu]Cu-NOTA-CP01.

Mol Imaging Biol

December 2024

Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center of Molecular Imaging, The Fifth Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University, Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, 519000, China.

Article Synopsis
  • This study explores a new method for visualizing metastatic lymph nodes (MLN) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) using a CXCR4-targeted tracer called [Cu]Cu-NOTA-CP01, aiming to provide a non-invasive alternative to traditional biopsies.
  • Researchers established an intralymphatic tumor metastasis model and utilized bioluminescence imaging and PET/CT scans to assess the tracer's effectiveness and specificity for detecting MLN.
  • Results showed that the tracer successfully highlighted metastatic lymph nodes, indicating high CXCR4 expression and suggesting that this method could be a promising tool for monitoring cancer progression in patients.

Article Synopsis
  • * Nontraditional immunotherapy options, like sublingual and intralymphatic methods, are emerging as promising alternatives that could offer shorter treatment times and improved safety and effectiveness compared to traditional methods.
  • * More research, including large-scale and long-term studies, is necessary to standardize treatment protocols and accurately compare the outcomes of these new therapies before they become widely adopted in clinical practice.

Allergen-specific immunotherapy is the only disease-modifying treatment for IgE-mediated allergic disorders. Intra lymphatic immunotherapy (ILIT) is an efficacious and time-saving alternative to subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT). This study aimed to evaluate the effects and safety of ILIT in patients with moderate to severe allergic rhinitis.

Background: This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and adverse effects of specific immunotherapy (SIT) in the management of respiratory allergens, including allergic asthma, rhinitis, and related disorders, based on a review of current literature up to November 8, 2022.

Methods: We conducted a search of databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science, to identify relevant randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing respiratory allergy-specific immunotherapy. We employed the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) Statement to select RCTs that adhered to rigorous reporting standards.
