Proliferative activity and lipid composition (phospholipids and gangliosides) were studied in rat hepatoma-27 transplanted subcutaneously or intrahepatically (as models for primary and metastasizing tumors). The mitotic index of subcutaneously transplanted hepatoma far exceeded that of the intrahepatically transplanted tumor. The overall amounts of both phospholipids and gangliosides increased appreciably in the subcutaneously growing hepatoma (in contrast to the intrahepatically growing tumor) in comparison to the control hepatic tissue. The ganglioside composition in the tumors differs from that in the liver: ganglioside GD3 appears, whereas gangliosides GD1b and GT1b decrease in amount in the intrahepatic tumor compared to the control liver and disappear in the subcutaneously transplanted hepatoma. In both tumor types, the amounts of both phosphatidylethanolamine and sphingomyelin exceed the control values. Comparison of these results with previously reported data concerning the phospholipid and ganglioside composition in the regenerating rat liver indicates that the difference in the lipid composition between the subcutaneously and intrahepatically growing hepatomas-27 is due to their different proliferative status and also their microenvironment.

Background: Formerly known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) has now become the most widespread chronic liver disease worldwide. The primary goal of this study is to assess the ability of different indexes (including VAI, TyG, HOMA-IR, BMI, LAP, WHtR, TyG-BMI, TyG-WC, and TyG-WHtR) to predict MASLD in individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), particularly within the Chinese population.
Methods: This cross-sectional study involved 1,742 patients with T2DM, recruited from the Metabolic Management Centers (MMC) at Suzhou Municipal Hospital.

While the effect of time-of-day (morning versus evening) on hormones, lipids and lipolysis has been studied in relation to meals and exercise, there are no studies that have investigated the effects of time-of-day on ice bath induced hormone and lipidome responses. In this crossover-designed study, a group of six women and six men, 26 ± 5 years old, 176 ± 7 cm tall, weighing 75 ± 10 kg, and a BMI of 23 ± 2 kg/mhad an ice bath (8-12 °C for 5 min) both in the morning and evening on separate days. Absence from intense physical exercise, nutrient intake and meal order was standardized in the 24 h prior the ice baths to account for confounders such as diet or exercise.
