Falls are common in the geriatric and older adult population, often causing significant morbidity or mortality. The geometry of the human body in motion requires a highly functional individual to remain balanced and upright under a variety of conditions and perturbations. Balance in this population is adversely affected by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Medications' therapeutic and side effects frequently contribute to falls. An aggressive approach to falls reduction, including eliminating balance-altering medication, obtaining sub-specialty and balance evaluations when warranted, and requesting home safety assessments is advocated in this review of the current concepts and literature.

Purpose: Advances in multidisciplinary treatment of childhood brain tumors have significantly prolonged survival and reduced treatment-related complications. This makes the accessibility of digital neurocognitive assessment an important issue in the post-pandemic era.
Methods: Twenty pediatric brain tumor patients were recruited between August 2023 and August 2024, and a total of eight standardized Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) tests targeting executive function, memory, and attention were applied on a digital system.

Introduction: Toolbox training or toolbox talks is short-term training to improve occupational health and safety practices in various sectors. These on-the-job trainings provide employees with opportunities to ask questions and share experiences, facilitating the enhancement of workplace safety practices. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of toolbox trainings provided to nurses on nursing-sensitive quality indicators (pain management, pressure ulcer, patient falls, peripheral venous catheter complications, and adverse event reporting) in the workplace.

In 2012, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released STEADI (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths and Injuries) toolkit which is based on the 2011 American Geriatrics Society/British Geriatrics Society (AGS/BGS) fall prevention guideline. In 2024, the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI), via a Cooperative Award with the CDC of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), invited AGS to recommend updates to STEADI with a focus on falls prevention in primary care. An AGS workgroup reviewed the 2022/2024 publications and held three outreach events with stakeholders (448 participants) to get feedback on current STEADI materials and draft recommendations focused on primary care.

The construct-level approach will likely dominate motivation research until we develop computational models that are not only accurate, but also broadly usable.
