In the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which strive to ensure comprehensive access to fundamental water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, it is extremely imperative to prioritize communities in need and still disadvantaged. Moreover, tackling the worldwide sanitation crisis entails advancing the development of productive and sustainable sanitation systems and infrastructure. Sanitation planning is a multidimensional exercise encompassing multiple dimensions, stakeholders, and strategies, typically with conflicting objectives.

Kinetics of the Oxidation of the [2Fe-2S] Cluster in SoxR by Redox-Active Compounds as Studied by Pulse Radiolysis.

Biochemistry

January 2025

The Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research, Osaka University, Mihogaoka 8-1, Osaka, Ibaraki 567-0047, Japan.

SoxR containing a [2Fe-2S] cluster required for its transcription activity functions as a bacterial stress-response sensor that is activated through oxidation by redox-active compounds (RACs). SoxR from (EcSoxR) is activated by nearly all RACs nonspecifically. In contrast, nonenteric SoxRs such as (PaSoxR), and (ScSoxR) activate their target genes in response to RAC including endogenously produced metabolites.

[FeFe]-hydrogenases are enzymes that catalyze the redox interconversion of H and H using a six-iron active site, known as the H-cluster, which consists of a structurally unique [2Fe] subcluster linked to a [4Fe-4S] subcluster. A set of enzymes, HydG, HydE, and HydF, are responsible for the biosynthesis of the [2Fe] subcluster. Among them, it is well established that HydG cleaves tyrosine into CO and CN and forms a mononuclear [Fe(II)(Cys)(CO)(CN)] complex.

Efficient Methanol Oxidation Kinetics Enabled by an Ordered Heterocatalyst with Dual Electric Fields.

J Am Chem Soc

Induced by a sharp-tip-enhanced electric field, periodical nanoassemblies can regulate the reactant flux on the electrode surface, efficiently optimizing the mass transfer kinetics in electrocatalysis. However, when the nanoscale building blocks in homoassemblies are arranged densely, it results in the overlap and reduction of the local electric field. Herein, we present a comprehensive kinetic heteromodel that simultaneously couples the sharp-tip-enhanced electric field and charge transfer electric field between different building blocks with any arrangement densities.

The pathophysiological relationship between wound healing impairment and diabetes is an intricate process. Burn injury among diabetes patients leads to neurological, vascular, and immunological abnormalities along with impaired activities of cell proliferation, collagen production, growth factors, and cytokine activities with huge bacterial infestation. In our study, we aimed to achieve a burn wound dressing material with the help of electrospun Chitosan/Polyethylene oxide/Rosmarinic acid (CS/PEO/RA) nanofibers.
