The purpose of this study is to evaluate morphological and signal intensity changes in the hippocampus in patients with medically intractable temporal lobe epilepsy. We studied 8 patients with mesial temporal sclerosis using a 1.5 -T MR and the following sequences Spin Eco- SE, Fast Spin Echo- FSE, Fluid Attenuation Inversion Recovery Echo Planar Imaging--FLAIR-EPI. We noticed a sensitive increase signal intensity on FLAIR- EPI sequences, particularly, in coronal images, than on SE and FSE sequences. The STIR sequence showed a cortical hippocampus atrophy in half of the cases, in whom signal abnormalities were present.

Background: Prostatic malignancy with paraneoplastic subacute encephalitis -A rare syndrome METHOD: We present a case of 76 year old male without any previous comorbidity and addiction who manifested a rapid neuropsychiatric decline with a frontotemporal syndrome over a period of 6 months. He was anemic and cerebrospinal fluid study showed 10 cells with lymphocytic predominance. The extensive workup of csf for infection, malignancy revealed nothing.

Background: The existing literature has established that Alzheimer's disease (AD) is typically characterized by changes in memory-associated temporal and parietal lobe atrophy and hypometabolism. However, some individuals clinically diagnosed with AD do not have biomarkers consistent with AD pathology. In this cross-sectional study, we aimed to investigate differences in memory consolidation, temporal and parietal lobe atrophy, as well as temporal and parietal lobe metabolism within a clinically diagnosed cohort of individuals with amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment (aMCI) who were either positive or negative for amyloid.

Background: Carrying one or more copies of the apolipoprotein E ε4 allele represents the greatest known source of genetic risk for late-onset Alzheimer's disease (AD), although the mechanisms are not fully understood. Several smaller-scale studies have analyzed APOEε4 effects on brain volume, reporting gray matter volume (GMV) alterations in medial temporal and precuneal regions in people with AD and in healthy APOEε4 carriers. Here, we analyzed brain images from a large sample of healthy elderly adults in relation to ε4 carrier status, stratifying by age to assess potential group differences.

Background: The HEAD study focuses on collecting an extensive dataset from various tau-PET tracers, aiming to establish robust anchor values, which are essential for harmonizing tau-PET measurements. Here, we aim to showcase the capability of converting 3D tau-PET images into a common scale using the Universal Tau-PET Scale, Uniτ (tau), and to use these 3D images to subsequently obtain ROIs as needed.

Methods: We assessed 185 individuals across the aging and AD spectrum from the HEAD study, with [F]Flortaucipir and [F]MK-6240 tau-PET tracers.

Background: Hippocampus has a key role in the memory and cognitive functions and its volume tends to decrease during aging and is severely affected in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). The hippocampal atrophy can be assessed by quantitative volumetry or classified by the Mesial Temporal Atrophy Score (MTA). Here, we perform a comparison between the values of automatic hippocampal volumetry and the MTA score, to analyze possible variations through a correlation curve and their impacts on quantitative and qualitative measures.
