Objectives: Metalloproteinases and their inhibitors appear to control connective tissue remodelling during follicular rupture. The aim of the study was to establish if oocytes fertilisation rate after ovulation induction depends on the concentrations of MMP-1, its inhibitor TIMP-1, MMP-1/TIMP-1 complex and I CTP in follicular fluid (FF).
Material And Methods: FF were collected from 37 infertile patients undergoing ovulation induction using either short or long protocol. FF was obtained 36 hours after administration of hCG (Pregnyl). The level of MMP-1, TIMP-1, MMP-1/TIMP-1 complex were measured using ELISA kits and I CTP, E2, FSH, LH, using RIA assay kits.
Results: Statistically significant (p < 0.05) difference was found in TIMP-1, E2, and FSH concentration, being higher in the group with more than 75% fertilisation rate: TIMP-1 728.8 + 100.1 ng/ml vs 666.3 + 94.5 ng/ml; E2 477.3 +/- 160.0 ng/ml vs 368.0 +/- 190.0 ng/ml and FSH 7.27 +/- 1.45 mIU/ml vs 6.24 +/- 1.6 mIU/ml.
Conclusions: Statistically significant increase in TIMP-1 concentration observed among patients with fertilisation rate above 75% indicates an important role of this substance in ovulation process.

The elderly population wants to improve skin function and maintain a youthful appearance without wrinkles. Laser is one of the highly developed and widely used therapeutic modalities of skin aging by stimulating dermal collagen formation. Picosecond laser therapy is performed on skin with wrinkles to determine the mechanism of wrinkle improvement with a picosecond laser through an increasing in tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases 1 (TIMP-1), and a decrease in matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), which was confirmed by collagen density.

Activated hepatic stellate cells differentiate into myofibroblasts, which synthesize and secrete extracellular matrix (ECM) leading to liver fibrosis. It was previously demonstrated that bulleyaconitine A (BLA), an alkaloid from Aconitum bulleyanum, inhibits proliferation and promotes apoptosis of human hepatic Lieming Xu-2 (LX-2) cells. In this study, we analyzed the effect of BLA on the production of ECM and related proteins by LX-2 cells activated with acetaldehyde (AA).

Mitral stenosis is the most common rheumatic heart disease (RHD) disorder worldwide, including in Indonesia. This pathological condition causes left atrial pressure, leading to left atrial fibrosis that affects the structure and function of the left atrial as well as the clinical condition. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between circulating fibrosis biomarkers with net atrioventricular compliance (Cn) as a parameter of left atrial function, and left atrial volume index (LAVI) as a parameter left atrium structure of changes.

Purpose: To evaluate the response of human peri-implant soft tissue (PIST) to different healing abutment materials 24 hours after positioning by assessing the expression of genes related to the early connective tissue wound healing response.
Materials And Methods: The following four materials were used to create experimental abutments that were mounted on implants placed in five patients (four different abutments in each patient): group A-grade 4 titanium (Ti), group B-grade 5 Ti, group C-zirconia (Zr), and group D-polyetheretherketone (PEEK). Before implant placement, a gingival biopsy (control, CT) sample was obtained using a 2-mm-diameter punch (T0).

(1) Background: Mitral stenosis is the most common rheumatic heart disease (RHD). Inflammation and fibrosis are the primary pathophysiology, resulting in left atrial stress and dysfunction. Dapagliflozin is a new heart failure treatment with anti-inflammation and anti-fibrosis effects from previous studies.
