Panelcrete, Aquapanel and Betopan are cement-based building materials with uses similar to those of gypsum wallboard, whose properties as a diagnostic X-ray shielding material have been extensively studied. The X-ray attenuation characteristics of these cement-based boards as well as those of a gypsum wallboard, Gypsoplak Superboard, are investigated for broad beam geometry conditions and for tube potentials of 50 kVp, 70 kVp, 100 kVp, 125 kVp and 140 kVp. Comparisons between these materials as well as with published data for gypsum wallboard are made. An example of their use as secondary barriers is given. Furthermore, it is confirmed that when building materials are considered for diagnostic X-ray shielding, calculations based on data for similar materials and corrected for density differences can be used only as an approximation.

The quality of CT images obtained from hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients is complex, affecting diagnostic accuracy, precision, and radiation dose assessment due to increased exposure risks. The study evaluated image quality qualitatively and quantitatively by comparing quality levels with an effective radiation dose to ensure acceptable quality accuracy. This study retrospectively reviewed 100 known HCC patients (Li-RADS-5) who underwent multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) multiphasic scans for follow-up of their health condition between January and October 2023.

The role of an accessory renal artery in the pathogenesis of hypertension is still controversial. In this report, we describe a previously healthy 16-year-old girl with an accessory right renal artery who presented with hypertensive urgency (no progressive target organ dysfunction). Initial workup other than hypercholesterolemia and mild proteinuria was normal with no signs of other target organ damage.
