Plasma neurotensin (NT) was measured by radioimmunoassay in propanol extracted and unextracted plasma from 16 parkinsonian patients (four before treatment) and 16 age and sex matched controls. Mean plasma NT concentrations were consistently higher in parkinsonian patients than in controls and higher in the four untreated patients than in levodopa treated patients suggesting that plasma NT measurement may represent an easy detectable additional index in diagnosing parkinsonism and provides a novel approach to research in this field.

Context: The mechanisms underlying bone fragility and increased fracture risk observed in individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) are not yet fully elucidated. Previous research has suggested a role for neuropeptides in regulating bone metabolism; however, the contribution of the neuropeptide Neurotensin (NT), which is thoroughly implicated in T2D and cardiovascular disease, has not been investigated in this context.
Objective: To study the relationship between circulating levels of the NT precursor proneurotensin (proNT) and bone mineralisation in T2D women.

Neurotensin (NT), a bioactive tridecapeptide aids in diabetic wound healing by modulating inflammation and angiogenesis. However, its rapid degradation in peptidase-rich wound environment (plasma half-life <2 min) limits its efficacy. To address this, neurotensin-conjugated polymeric porous microparticles (NT-PMP) were developed and loaded in gelatin (hydrogel 15% w/v) for topical application, enabling sustained NT release to enhance therapeutic outcomes.

The multistrain probiotics' efficacy in ameliorating the endotoxemic effect in Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenged mice was evaluated with the agonist of anti-inflammatory peptide, neurotensin (NTS), especially targeting the inflammation of the gut and liver. Swiss Albino Mice (Female, 8 weeks old) were maintained in eight groups: Group I as Control, Group II-Group V were exposed to intraperitoneal (i.p.

Background: Anxiety and depressive disorders are highly prevalent mental health conditions, affecting millions worldwide. Advancements in neurobiology have identified the effects of various neuropeptides in modulating mood and stress responses. Some of the well-researched neuropeptides in plasma are oxytocin (OXT), alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), beta-endorphin, neurotensin, and substance P.

Linking an opioid to a nonopioid pharmacophore represents a promising approach for reducing opioid-induced side effects during pain management. Herein, we describe the optimization of the previously reported opioid-neurotensin hybrids (OPNT-hybrids), & , containing the μ-/δ-opioid agonist H-Dmt-d-Arg-Aba-β-Ala-NH and NT(8-13) analogs optimized for NTS2 affinity. In the present work, the constrained dipeptide Aba-β-Ala was modified to investigate the optimal linker length between the two pharmacophores, as well as the effect of expanding the aromatic moiety within constrained dipeptide analogs, via the inclusion of a naphthyl moiety.
