Purpose: To investigate whether continuous, very low-dose gamma-irradiation (10 cGy/year) modifies immune parameters in mice.
Material And Methods: C57BL/6 female mice, 4 weeks old, were irradiated for 24 months and compared with control mice living in the same room. B- and T-cell subsets were evaluated by flow cytometry before and after stimulation with lectins; subclasses of immunoglobulins were determined by ELISA 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 18 and 24 months after the beginning of the irradiation.
Results: No difference was found in the percentage of CD4(+) and CD8(+) cells in the thymus and the spleen, or in the reactivity of T-cells to lectins. While the number of B-cells in the spleen remained unchanged, a significant decrease of IgG1, IgG2b and IgG2a was observed after respectively 12, 18 and 24 months of irradiation.
Conclusion: The parameters of cellular immunity studied were not affected by this chronic low-dose of irradiation, but this dose rate is probably too low to induce the hormetic effect previously described. Further investigations are necessary to assess whether the decline of immunoglobulin secretion is indicative of a lower rate of infectious diseases or a defect in B-cell function.

Drug-induced hyponatremia is an adverse reaction with accelerated electrolyte disturbance. This study reported a rare case of delayed hyponatremia in a 68year-old female with recurrent upper tract urothelial carcinoma after Gemcitabine plus Cisplatin (GC) and Tislelizumab treatment. She had left ureter surgery, recurrence a year later with mildly abnormal kidney function (glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was 54.

Ticagrelor has become the standard drug for the treatment of intracranial aneurysms (IAs) with flow diverters (FDs), but the dosage has not been standardized. The effect of platelet function on clinical and imaging prognosis remains unclear. This study aimed to show the effects of different doses of ticagrelor and platelet aggregation function on the clinical and imaging prognosis after FDs treatment of aneurysms.

Objectives: To determine the effectiveness of Levamisole (Leva) in maintaining short-term and long-term remission in early steroid responders (ESRs) and late steroid responders (LSRs).
Methods: This retrospective study on 106 cohorts, aged 2-14 years with frequent-relapsing (FR) and steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome (SDNS) who received Leva over 10-years (2012-2023), was carried out at tertiary care centre, Karachi from January-August 2023. Patients were categorized based on steroid response during first episode of NS as ESRs if complete remission (CR) was achieved within two weeks of daily steroid and LSRs if CR achieved between two-four weeks.

Endocrine therapy with CDK4/6 inhibitors is standard for estrogen receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer (ER+/HER2- MBC), yet clinical resistance develops. Previously, we demonstrated that low doses of palbociclib activate autophagy, reversing initial G1 cell cycle arrest, while high concentrations induce off-target senescence. The autophagy inhibitor hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) induced on-target senescence at lower palbociclib doses.

Aim: The World Health Organization reported that cancer was the cause of death for 9.7 million people in 2022, and the numbers continue to rise every day. The present study examines the potential radioprotective effects of ubiquinone against x-ray radiation-induced intestinal damage and offers insight into new near-future methods for the treatment of radiation-induced tissue toxicity.
