A randomized, controlled trial of a brief interventional package for schizophrenic out-patients.

Objective: To evaluate the impact on outcome of a simple educational intervention in schizophrenic patients at risk of relapse.

Method: At discharge, 114 schizophrenic patients with at least one previous episode were assigned randomly to a simple educational intervention which had no resource implications, or standard care.

Results: The intervention failed to improve outcome. While insight and treatment attitudes improved, suicidal ideation increased. Systematic management of treatment-emergent adverse effects offered no benefits, although incapacitation from extrapyramidal side-effects at discharge predicted relapse.

Conclusion: There are limits to which psychoeducational interventions can be simplified without loss of effectiveness in terms of relapse prevention in schizophrenia. Enhanced insight may be associated with increased suicidal ideation.

An electrochemical sensor is presented for the detection of the chloramphenicol (CAP) based on a bimetallic MIL-101(Fe/Co) MOF electrocatalyst. The MIL-101(Fe/Co) was prepared by utilizing mixed-valence Fe (III) and Co (II) as metal nodes and terephthalic acid as ligands with a simple hydrothermal method and characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, FTIR, and XPS. Electrochemical measurements such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) showed that bimetallic MIL-101(Fe/Co) had the faster electron transfer, larger electroactive area, and higher electrocatalytic activity compared with  their monometallic counterparts due to the strong synergistic effect between bimetals.

Base-Promoted [4 + 1 + 1] Multicomponent Tandem Cycloaddition of -Substituted Nitroarenes, Aldehydes, and Ammonium Salts To Access 2,4-Substituted Quinazoline Frameworks.

We report a base-promoted, metal-free multicomponent tandem reaction, involving a [4 + 1 + 1] cycloaddition process between -substituted nitroarenes, aldehydes, and ammonium salts. Modifying the substituents on the nitroaromatic compounds effectively provides structurally diverse 2-substituted and 4-alkenylquinazolines with good to excellent yields (77%-90% and quinazoline 51 examples) and high tolerance for various inorganic ammonium salts (13 examples, such as NH·HO, NHCl, and NHHF). A new method for constructing 2,4-substituted quinazoline compounds with high selectivity from simple nitrogen source compounds was developed, and the reaction can be scaled up to a gram scale.

Objectives: The aim was to assess the content validity of a new field test on general and soccer-specific motor skills before return to play.

Methods: The RONDO-TEST was assessed by a Delphi panel for its content validity. It included a survey to evaluate 16 items related to the test consisting of four 10 m lines which cross over at their mid-point, resulting in eight 5 m sectors that include locomotor skills (speeding, moving sideways, side cutting, and jumping) and soccer-specific technical skills (dribbling, slalom course, and kicking/passing).
