Thyroid eye disease (TED) is the most consequential extrathyroidal manifestation or complication of Graves' disease (GD). Treatment of hyperthyroidism in GD complicated by TED is challenging. Antithyroid drugs (ATDs) and thyroidectomy do not change the natural course of TED, while radioactive iodine (RAI) is associated with a small but well-documented risk of TED de novo occurrence or its progression/worsening.

Background: Although the literature supports a shorter course of 24 h of prophylaxis after head and neck free flap reconstruction, studies supporting this duration do not differentiate between flap types. There is a paucity of evidence on the optimal duration of prophylaxis for osteocutaneous free flaps with hardware, which may have higher rates of post-operative complications compared to other free flaps. This study aimed to examine the effect of different lengths of antibiotic prophylaxis on surgical site infection (SSI) rates after head and neck reconstruction with osteocutaneous free flaps and hardware.

What Is Already Known About This Topic?: As one of the populations at high risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) require rapid and effective development of hepatitis B surface antibodies (anti-HBs).
What Is Added By This Report?: The short-course, high-dose regimen of hepatitis B vaccination rapidly induced comparable immunological responses to the routine regimen, achieving a seroconversion rate of 88.5%, a high-response rate of 64.

Background: In recent years, haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (haploHSCT) with post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) has become increasingly prevalent. However, the precise impact of invasive fungal disease (IFD) in relation to graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) prophylaxis and donor type remains to be elucidated.
Methods: In this study, we analyzed data from 580 HSCT patients, comprising 80 patients who received haploidentical grafts and 500 patients who received grafts from other donor types.

Objectives: Duration of treatment for uncomplicated streptococcal bacteraemia is unknown. The study aims to assess clinical outcomes of patients with uncomplicated streptococcal bacteraemia receiving a short course (5-10 days) of antimicrobial treatment compared to those receiving the traditional, longer duration (11-18 days).
Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at the Lausanne University Hospital, Switzerland and included episodes of uncomplicated streptococcal bacteraemia among adult patients from 2015 to 2023.
