A model of a stationary electrical potential on biomembrane was created. This model takes into account conformational changes in transport ATPase. N positive ions are transported simultaneously by the system of active transport. The model allows one to determine independently ion concentrations inside the cell and membrane electrical potential. It is shown that, to obtain the electrical potential, it is necessary to take into account organic negative intracellular ions. The effect of positive ions that are not transported by active transport systems on the potential value is discussed. The results obtained are in a good agreement with experimental data for various cells.

NbO(OH) has emerged as a highly attractive photocatalyst based on its chemical stability, energetic band positions, and large active lattice sites. Compared to other various photocatalytic semiconductors, it can be synthesized easily. This study presents a systematic analysis of pristine and doped NbO(OH) based on recent developments in related research.

Carbon dots (CDs) derived from natural products have attracted considerable interest as eco-friendly materials with a wide range of applications, such as bioimaging, sensors, catalysis, and solar energy harvesting. Among these applications, electroluminescence (EL) is particularly desirable for light-emitting devices in display and lighting technologies. Typically, EL devices incorporating CDs feature a layered structure, where CDs function as the central emissive layer, flanked by charge transport layers and electrodes.

Statins are widely used for treating lipid disorders and cardiovascular diseases. However, the therapeutic efficiency and adverse effects of statins vary among different patients, which numerous clinical and epidemiological studies have attributed to genetic polymorphisms in statin-metabolizing enzymes and transport proteins. The metabolic processes of statins are relatively complex, involving spontaneous or enzyme-catalyzed interconversion between more toxic lactone metabolites and active acid forms in the liver and bloodstream, influenced by multiple factors, including the expression levels of many metabolic enzymes and transporters.

Unstable solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) film resulting from chemically active surface state and huge volume fluctuation limits the development of Si-based anode materials in lithium-ion batteries. Herein, a photo-initiated polypyrrole (PPy) coating is manufactured on Si nanoparticles to guide the in situ generation of PPy-integrated hybrid SEI film (hSEI). The hSEI film shows excellent structure stability and optimized component composition for lithium storage.

The release of common medications and illegal drugs into the environment could be potentially harmful to the ecosystem and hamper the behavior and growth of plants and animals. These pollutants gain access to water through sewage and factory discharges and have been found to exceed safety limits in water bodies. Therefore, there is an urgent need for improved wastewater purification systems.
