Ten cases of irradiated and exenterated orbits in retinoblastoma patients were treated for reconstruction of the eye socket. The follow-up was from 1 to 5 years, with no retraction of the treated area and without sequels of the donor site. The author finds that this pathology is a new and precise indication for the grafted temporofascial island flap described by Dr. O. Erol.

Digital micromirror devices (DMDs), owing to their rapid refresh rates and ability to shape particular optical patterns, are key tools for holographic 3D near-eye displays. However, relying on a single-sideband (SSB) filter to eliminate crosstalk from zero-order and conjugate noise leads to an enormous decrease in the utilization of spatial bandwidth product (SBP). In this paper, we develop a new strategy for the binary hologram optimization framework to enable the full utilization of SBP of DMD holographic display by minimizing conjugate noise.

Hemifacial microsomia (HFM) is a rare congenital disorder that affects facial symmetry, ear development, and other congenital anomalies. However, known causal genes account for only approximately 6% of patients, indicating the need to discover more pathogenic genes. Association tests demonstrated an association between common variants in SHROOM3 and HFM (P = 1.

Purpose: This study aims to explore the feasibility and performance of three-dimensional ultrasound (3DUS) imaging in ophthalmology using commercially available ultrasound probes adapted to a slit lamp.
Significance: Despite ultrasound's long-standing application in eye care for visualizing ocular components, the evolution of 3DUS technology has remained inactive, with limited development and commercial availability. This study introduces a novel method that could potentially enhance ophthalmic diagnostics and treatment planning by providing comprehensive 3D views of ocular structures using existing ultrasound probes adapted to the conventional slit lamp.

Introduction: Health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) outcomes following maxillary reconstruction with the scapular osseous free flap (SOFF) are lacking. Material and Methods: To determine these outcomes, a study of patients who completed maxillary reconstruction with flap survival of the SOFF between 2016 and 2023 was conducted, using Face-Q Head and Neck Cancer Module (FACE-Q).
Results: Eligible patients had at least six months of follow-up.

Background: Involution or aging is the most common cause of lower eyelid entropion (in-turning of eyelid margin) in the elderly population. Various pathomechanisms have been postulated for its occurrence. Aging leads to laxity of tissues and loss of muscle tone.
