Background: Anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) encephalitis is an autoimmune encephalitis characterized by complex neuropsychiatric syndromes and the presence of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) antibodies against NMDAR. The characteristics of anti-NMDAR encephalitis in children, particularly infants, are unclear due to difficulties in neurologic assessment such as psychiatric symptoms. Additionally, subtle or non-specific findings of conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) make early diagnosis even more difficult.

Purpose: Several weeks after COVID-19 infection, some children report the persistence or recurrence of functional complaints. This clinical presentation has been referred as "long COVID" in the adult population, and an [F]-FDG brain PET hypometabolic pattern has recently been suggested as a biomarker. Herein, we present a retrospective analysis of 7 paediatric patients with suspected long COVID who were explored by [F]-FDG brain PET exam.

A 68-year-old woman with a history of multiple myeloma on regular hematological follow-up and with no previous relevant gynecological diseases was found to have an incidental focal uptake by the right ovary at C-methionine PET/CT (C-MET). Transvaginal ultrasound was then performed showing a 2-cm solid right ovarian mass with irregular borders and moderate vascularization at color Doppler examination. Therefore, the patient underwent bilateral salpingectomy, and the final histological results revealed a rare presentation of mature teratoma with insular carcinoid tumor arising from the right ovary.

The selective effectiveness of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) in treating infantile spasms suggests an underlying neuroinflammation. Because neuroinflammation is mediated by activated microglia, which express translocator protein (TSPO), we imaged neuroinflammation in children with infantile spasms using positron emission tomography (PET) with C-PK11195 (PK), which selectively binds to TSPO. Children were studied prospectively before and following treatment with Acthar Gel (repository corticotropin injection).
