Spectra of highly charged Kr ions, produced in an electron-beam ion trap (EBIT), have been recorded in a broad x-ray energy band (0.3 keV to 4 keV) with a microcalorimeter detector. Most of the spectral lines have been identified as transitions of B- to Al-like Kr. The transition energies have been determined with 0.2% uncertainty. A semi-empirical EBIT plasma model has been created to calculate a synthetic spectrum of highly charged Kr and to determine a charge state distribution of Kr ions inside the EBIT.

Building anion-derived solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with enriched LiF is considered the most promising strategy to address inferior safety features and poor cyclability of lithium-metal batteries (LMBs). Herein, we discover that, instead of direct electron transfer from surface polar groups to bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide (TFSI) for inducing a LiF-rich SEI, the dipole-induced fluorinated-anion decomposition reaction begins with the adsorption of Li ions and is highly dependent on their mobility on the polar surface. To demonstrate this, a single-layer graphdiyne on MXene (sGDY@MXene) heterostructure has been successfully fabricated and integrated into polypropylene separators.

The concurrent evolution of value-added benzimidazole compounds and hydrogen within the domain of chemical synthesis is of paramount importance. The utilization of photocatalysis enhances both the efficiency and environmental benignity of the synthetic process. However, it is profoundly challenging within a photocatalytic system to simultaneously augment the number of active sites and the internal transport rate of photogenerated charge carriers.

The two-dimensional lamellar materials disperse platinum sites and minimize noble-metal usage for fuel cells, while mass transport resistance at the stacked layers spurs device failure with a significant performance decline in membrane electrode assembly (MEA). Herein, we implant porous and rigid sulfonated covalent organic frameworks (COF) into the graphene-based catalytic layer for the construction of steric mass-charge channels, which highly facilitates the activity of oxygen reduction reactions in both the rotating disk electrode (RDE) measurements and MEA device tests. Specifically, the normalized mass activity is remarkably boosted by 3.

Background: Antibiotic resistance of many bacteria, including Methicillin-resistant (MRSA), has become a major threat to global health. Zinc Oxide Quantum dots (ZnO-QDs) show good antibacterial activity, but most of them are insoluble in water, limiting their application range, and there is a lack of research on drug resistance inducement.
Methods: The water-soluble zinc oxide quantum dots modified by APTES (ZnO@APTES QDs) were prepared by a microwave assisted synthesis.
Alchemical free energy methods using molecular mechanics (MM) force fields are essential tools for predicting thermodynamic properties of small molecules, especially via free energy calculations that can estimate quantities relevant for drug discovery such as affinities, selectivities, the impact of target mutations, and ADMET properties. While traditional MM forcefields rely on hand-crafted, discrete atom types and parameters, modern approaches based on graph neural networks (GNNs) learn continuous embedding vectors that represent chemical environments from which MM parameters can be generated. Excitingly, GNN parameterization approaches provide a fully end-to-end differentiable model that offers the possibility of systematically improving these models using experimental data.
