Stretch of the rat mesenteric artery ring pretreated with noradrenaline evoked a myogenic response consisting of the fast and slow phases which were maximal at about 3.5 and 45.1 s after the stretch, resp. Hypercapnic acidosis inhibited both phases of the response. Role of Ca2+ in origin of the two phases is discussed.
