An attempt was made to determine whether changes of electrical activity could be seen in the posterior cortex during an after image of high frequency luminance gratings. Steady state visual evoked potentials were recorded (midoccipital, right and left temporo-occipital sites) immediately after a period of visual adaptation (15 min) to the stimulus, while the subjects experienced the after image. During this illusion, frequencies of the fast Fourier transform spectra linked to the stimulation differed from the noise and were larger at temporo-occipital sites than at the midoccipital one. In view of these results, the hypothesis that the after effect represents a short term storage of the temporal characteristics of the stimulus is evoked.

Motor evoked potentials (MEPs) are an important measure in transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) when assessing neuronal excitability in clinical diagnostics related to motor function, as well as in neuroscience research. However, manual feature extraction from large datasets can be time-consuming and prone to human error, and valuable features, such as MEP polyphasia and duration, are often neglected. Several packages have been developed to simplify the process; however, they are often tailored to specific studies or are not accessible.

Background: High-throughput behavioral analysis is important for drug discovery, toxicological studies, and the modeling of neurological disorders such as autism and epilepsy. Zebrafish embryos and larvae are ideal for such applications because they are spawned in large clutches, develop rapidly, feature a relatively simple nervous system, and have orthologs to many human disease genes. However, existing software for video-based behavioral analysis can be incompatible with recordings that contain dynamic backgrounds or foreign objects, lack support for multiwell formats, require expensive hardware, and/or demand considerable programming expertise.

Purpose: Study the scotopic oscillatory potentials (OPs) in mice over a wide range of flash luminance levels using the Hilbert transform (HT) to extract new features of the high frequency components of the electroretinogram (ERG).
Methods: Scotopic ERGs [Intensity: - 6.3 to 0.

To restore vision in the blind, advances in visual cortical prosthetics (VCPs) have offered high-channel-count electrical interfaces. Here, we design a 100-fiber optical bundle interface apposed to known feature-specific (color, shape, motion, and depth) functional columns that populate the visual cortex in humans, primates, and cats. Based on a non-viral optical stimulation method (INS, infrared neural stimulation; 1,875 nm), it can deliver dynamic patterns of stimulation, is non-penetrating and non-damaging to tissue, and is movable and removable.

Background: Previous studies have shown that in-beam magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be used to visualize a proton beam during the irradiation of liquid-filled phantoms. The beam energy- and current-dependent local image contrast observed in water was identified to be predominantly caused by beam-induced buoyant convection and associated flow effects. Besides this flow dependency, the MR signal change was found to be characterized by a change in the relaxation time of water, hinting at a radiochemical contribution, which was hypothesized to lie in oxygen depletion-evoked relaxation time lengthening.
