Article Abstract
We experienced two cases of limb edema of unknown pathogenesis. No evidence was found concerning involvement of the kidneys, heart of other visceral organs. Case 1 was 22-year-old woman. Her white blood cell count increased to 13,100/microliter with 65.0% eosinophils. Case 2 was a 27-year-old woman. Her white blood cell count increased to 23,300/microliter with 67.0% eosinophils. In these cases, extensive diagnostic evaluations revealed no evidence of atopy, neoplasms, collagen-vascular disease, or parasitic infestation. We diagnosed these cases as episodic angioedema with eosinophilia. In both cases, the angioedema improved gradually in parallel with a decrease in the white blood cell count. This disorder is very rare, but it is very important to consider it in differential diagnosis especially for nephrologists.

A wealth of research focused on African American populations has connected rs2814778-CC ("Duffy-null") to decreased neutrophil (neutropenia) and leukocyte counts (leukopenia). While it has been proposed that this variant is benign, prior studies have shown that the misinterpretation of Duffy-null associated neutropenia and leukopenia can lead to unnecessary bone marrow biopsies, inequities in cytotoxic and chemotherapeutic treatment courses, under-enrollment in clinical trials, and other disparities. Purpose: This study proposes a novel, contrast-free Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting (MRF) method using balanced Steady-State Free Precession (bSSFP) sequences for the quantification of cerebral blood volume (CBV), vessel radius (R), and relaxometry parameters (T , T , T *) in the brain.
Methods: The technique leverages the sensitivity of bSSFP sequences to intra-voxel frequency distributions in both transient and steady-state regimes. A dictionary-matching process is employed, using simulations of realistic mouse microvascular networks to generate the MRF dictionary.
