Monoclonal antibodies are valuable tools in medical and biological research which can be used for identifying, characterizing and purifying medically and biologically important substances. Due to their high specificity monoclonal antibodies are more and more used in the diagnosis and therapy of infectious diseases and tumor illnesses. Large amounts of antibodies are needed for use in these areas and this necessitates mass production (g - kg range). Many production systems and possibilities for optimizing mass production have been described. In contrast, at universities and other research institutions the production of monoclonal antibodies in laboratory scale (mg range) is still carried out mostly in the ascites mouse. This article described our own experiences and results with the in vitro production in mg range. Using the German animal protection law (22.8.1986) as an example the legal aspects of animal protection in the production of monoclonal antibodies are discussed. In addition the legal regulations in Switzerland and the Netherlands are presented.

Objective: This study aims to analyze adverse drug events (ADE) related to romosozumab from the second quarter of 2019 to the third quarter of 2023 from FAERS database.
Methods: The ADE data related to romosozumab from 2019 Q2 to 2023 Q3 were collected. After data normalization, four signal strength quantification algorithms were used: ROR (Reporting Odds Ratios), PRR (Proportional Reporting Ratios), BCPNN (Bayesian Confidence Propagation Neural Network), and EBGM (Empirical Bayesian Geometric Mean).
Background: When Behçet's disease is complicated with gastrointestinal ulcers, it is referred to as intestinal Behçet's disease (BD). Clinically uncommon, this condition can involve the entire gastrointestinal tract, often presenting diagnostic challenges in differentiation from Crohn's disease.
Methods: In this case, atypical BD was diagnosed through endoscopic examination, whereas latent tuberculosis infection (LBTI) was confirmed via T-SPOT and PPD tests.

Schistosomiasis is the infection caused by and constitutes a worldwide public health problem. The parasitological recommended method and serological methods can be used for the detection of eggs and antibodies, respectively. However, both have limitations, especially in low endemicity areas.

Background: Polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) is a rare and serious form of systemic necrotizing vasculitis that predominantly affects medium and small-sized arteries, with central nervous system involvement being particularly uncommon. Treatment strategies are tailored according to the extent and severity of the disease. While conventional therapy includes glucocorticoids and conventional disease-modifying-rheumatic drugs (cDMARDs), biologic agents may be critical for severe and refractory cases.

Background: Anti-signal recognition protein (anti-SRP) myopathy is a rare idiopathic inflammatory myopathy in children. Herein, a 3-year-old patient with severe anti-SRP myopathy showing a rapidly progressive disease course is presented in order to increase the awareness of pediatricians about idiopathic inflammatory myopathies.
Case Presentation: A previously healthy 3-year-old girl presented with progressive symmetrical proximal muscle weakness that caused difficulty in climbing stairs for two months prior to evaluation, and a marked elevation of the serum creatine kinase levels.
