In animal models, brain neurodegeneration biomarkers drain into cervical lymph nodes (CLNs), and this drainage function is reduced with ageing. If this occurred in humans, CLNs may provide a readily accessible measure of this aspect of protein clearance. We tested this hypothesis in people using ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA).

Background & Aims: Finite duration of treatment associated with HBsAg loss is the current goal for improved therapeutic approaches against chronic HBV infection, as it indicates elimination or durable inactivation of intrahepatic covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA). To assist drug development, the definition of early predictive markers of HBsAg loss by assessing their value in reflecting intrahepatic cccDNA levels and transcriptional activity is essential. Fine needle aspirates (FNAs) have recently emerged as a less invasive alternative to core liver biopsy (CLB) and showed to be useful for investigating intrahepatic immune responses.

This study aimed to determine the accuracy of a novel virtual reality (VR) platform in assessing component orientation in a simulated THR model.
Methods: The VR platform (HTC Vive Pro® system hardware) was compared against the validated Vicon® optical motion capture (MoCap) system.

Context: Rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) optimises the performance of cytology, but requires skilled handling, and smearing can make the material unavailable for some ancillary tests. There is a need to facilitate ROSE without sacrificing part of the sample.
Objective: We evaluated the image quality of inexpensive deconvolution fluorescence microscopy for optically sectioning non-smeared fine needle aspiration (FNA) tissue fragments.

Salivary gland tumors are relatively uncommon with most being benign. When diagnosed the most common benign and malignant tumors are pleomorphic adenoma and mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC), respectively. However, not uncommonly, it is difficult to differentiate between the histopathological entities, leading to a diagnostic dilemma that can impact a patient's treatment and prognosis.
