Developments in spin-polarized internal targets for storage rings have permitted measurements of 197 MeV polarized protons scattering from vector polarized deuterons. This work presents measurements of the polarization observables A(y), iT11, and C(y,y) in proton-deuteron elastic scattering. When compared to calculations with and without three-nucleon forces, the measurements provide further evidence that three-nucleon forces make a contribution to the observables. This work indicates that three-body forces derived from static nuclear properties appear to be crucial to the description of dynamical properties.

Purpose: The purpose of this investigation was to reveal the dosimetric characteristics and contributions of the secondary light ions produced from carbon-ion beams in water via a GEANT4 simulation.
Methods: GEANT4 low energy electromagnetic physics processes were used for all ions. The hadronic interactions of protons and neutrons are simulated using low energy elastic interactions while inelastic scattering is simulated with a binary cascade (BIC) model.

Osteomalacia is characterized by hypomineralization of the bone associated with increased water content. In this work we evaluate the hypotheses that 1) 3D solid-state magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of (31)P (SSI-PH) and (1)H (SSI-WATER) of cortical bone can quantify the key characteristics of osteomalacia induced by low-phosphate diet; and 2) return to normophosphatemic diet (NO) results in recovery of these indices to normal levels.
