Small angle neutron scattering studies of the flux line lattice in LuNi2B2C and ErNi2B2C induced by a field parallel to the a axis reveal a first order flux line lattice reorientation transition. Below the transition the flux line lattice nearest neighbor direction is parallel to the b axis, and above the transition it is parallel to the c axis. This transition cannot be explained using nonlocal corrections to the London model. In addition, the anisotropy of the penetration depth lambda and the coherence length xi change at the transition.

Crystal Growth and Structural Analysis of Layered Lithium Titanium Sulfide.

Inorg Chem

January 2025

Department of Materials Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, Shinshu University, 4-17-1 Wakasato, Nagano 380-8553, Japan.

Layered sulfide crystals are suitable hosts for lithium and sodium ions in batteries. In this study, new layered lithium titanium sulfide (LTS) crystals were grown in a sealed silica tube using a LiS self-flux at 800-950 °C. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis results indicated the formation of a new sulfide phase with higher symmetry in the Li-Ti-S system.

Selective area molecular beam epitaxy of InSb on InP(111): from thin films to quantum nanostructures.

InSb is a material of choice for infrared as well as spintronic devices but its integration on large lattice mismatched semi-insulating III-V substrates has so far altered its exceptional properties. Here, we investigate the direct growth of InSb on InP(111)substrates with molecular beam epitaxy. Despite the lack of a thick metamorphic buffer layer for accommodation, we show that quasi-continuous thin films can be grown using a very high Sb/In flux ratio.

Electrochemical Li extraction technology is a highly promising approach for Li extraction from salt lakes. To enhance its practical application, it is crucial to elucidate the ion/electron transfer mechanism under diverse process conditions particularly different electron fluxes. Different migration intermediate states demonstrate the distinct ion migration mechanisms inside the LiMnO lattice at different electron fluxes.

This work reports magnetic field direction dependent second magnetisation peak (SMP) anomaly in single crystals of oxygenated [Formula: see text] for [Formula: see text] ab. Detailed investigations on crystal A revealed the direction dependence of SMP anomaly at temperatures below 25 K, above which the direction dependence vanishes. The state of spatial order of the vortex lattice was found to be correlated to the vortex lattice symmetry that underwent a change at certain fields and was captured via single flux jumps observed in the third and fifth quadrant of magnetisation hysteresis loops.

Angstrom-Scale Defect-Free Crystalline Membrane for Sieving Small Organic Molecules.

Adv Mater

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Materials-Oriented Chemical Engineering, College of Chemical Engineering, Nanjing Tech University, 30 Puzhu Road, Nanjing, 211816, P. R. China.

Crystalline membranes, represented by the metal-organic framework (MOF) with well-defined angstrom-sized apertures, have shown great potential for molecular separation. Nevertheless, it remains a challenge to separate small molecules with very similar molecular size differences due to angstrom-scale defects during membrane formation. Herein, a stepwise assembling strategy is reported for constructing MOF membranes with intrinsic angstrom-sized lattice aperture lattice to separate organic azeotropic mixtures separation.
