Lejeune (1998) (Switching or gating? The attentional challenge in cognitive models of psychological time. Behav. Process. 44, 127-45) analyzed and compared two models of prospective timing: the classical switching model and the attentional-gate model. Lejeune argued that a modified switch notion, which can be opened and closed in a frequency which reflects the amount of attentional resources allocated for timing can provide a satisfactory explanation for the impact of attention on prospective timing, and therefore the notion of an 'attentional switch' is favored over adding an 'attentional gate.' In the present analysis, the two competing models are compared in terms of correspondence with the nature of attentional processes, as well as in terms of logical analysis and explanatory power. Based on this comparison, it is argued that gating is a better model of prospective timing than switching.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic affected healthcare systems worldwide, disrupting elective surgeries including those for cancer treatment. This study examines the effects of the pandemic on outcomes of pancreatic cancer surgeries at a specialized high-volume surgery center.
Materials And Methods: This study compared surgical volume and outcomes of pancreas resections between the pre-pandemic (January 2019 to February 2020), early pandemic (March 2020 to January 2021), and late pandemic (February 2021 to December 2021) periods.

Purpose: Many breast centers are unable to provide immediate results at the time of screening mammography which results in delayed patient care. Implementing artificial intelligence (AI) could identify patients who may have breast cancer and accelerate the time to diagnostic imaging and biopsy diagnosis.
Methods: In this prospective randomized, unblinded, controlled implementation study we enrolled 1000 screening participants between March 2021 and May 2022.

Objective: Impaired fetal and infant growth may cause alterations in developmental programming of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and subsequently pubertal development. We aimed to assess associations between fetal and infant growth and pubertal development.
Design: Population-based prospective birth cohort.

Accurate and timely diagnostic information is a vital adjunct to clinical assessment to inform therapeutic decision-making, including decisions to transfuse, or not transfuse, blood components. A prospective cohort study of diagnostic point-of-care (POC) haemoglobin measurements on arterial or central venous samples from adults undergoing major noncardiac surgery compared three widely used devices, HemoCue®, i-STAT™, and the Rad-67™ pulse CO-Oxymeter® finger sensor device, against standard laboratory haemoglobin measurements, but importantly not against a blood gas analyser. The study focused on haemoglobin results below 100 g L to establish the utility of these devices to guide red cell transfusion decisions.

This study was conducted at 112 government and Juntendo University hospitals in February 2021 for the primary series of SARS-CoV-2 vaccinations. We compared the timing of solicited adverse event (AE) onset and prevalence of unsolicited AEs for Pfizer, Moderna, and AstraZeneca vaccines in a nationwide, large-scale prospective cohort study. The Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines were associated with a higher frequency of fever after the second dose than after the first dose.
