Aims: To use a commercial ELISA kit and an immunoblot assay to investigate the antibody levels of selected members of the Bangladeshi population to Helicobacter pylori protein antigens.
Methods And Results: Using immunoblotting, high seroprevalence rates were observed in all age groups, although the subjects within the 1-9 years age group had the highest seroprevalence of antibodies to H. pylori antigens. By ELISA, the highest level of seroprevalence was observed in those over the age of 20 years.
Conclusion: On the basis of these results the overall prevalence rate of H. pylori infection for the whole population was 77.4%; 77.9% for orphan boys and 76% for carers. CagA antibodies were detected in 86% of those with high levels of antibodies to H. pylori antigens.
Significance And Impact Of The Study: A combination of immunoblotting and ELISA was the most efficient means of detecting serum antibodies to H. pylori antigens and could be applied to the screening of human sera for H. pylori-specific antibodies.

Background: Previous investigations into the causal relationship between infections and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have yielded controversial results. This study delves into the bidirectional causal relationships between various infectious agents and SLE, employing two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) from an immunological perspective.
Methods: Utilizing genome-wide association study (GWAS) data for 46 antibody-mediated immune responses (AMIRs) to 13 pathogens and three distinct SLE datasets, we employed Bayesian Weighted MR (BWMR) and inverse variance weighted (IVW) methods to ascertain causal links, supplemented by meta-analysis to resolve inconsistencies.

Background: Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a cholestatic, autoimmune liver disease with the presence of characteristic autoantibodies. The aim of the work was to determine the level of antibodies directed against bacterial antigens: (anti-anti), (anti-), (anti- ) and () in sera of PBC patients. We also performed studies on the impact of the bacterial peptides on the specific antigen-antibody binding.

Background: Previous observational studies have suggested a potential causal relationship between Helicobacter pylori () infection and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). However, the evidence for causal inference remains contentious, and the underlying mechanisms require further investigation. To delve deeper into the relationship between and ITP, we conducted a Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis.

Background: Among environmental factors, infectious agents, including , can act as triggers for autoimmune thyroid diseases. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the correlation between autoimmune Hashimoto's thyroiditis with infection.
Methods: The participants in this case-control study were 74 individuals 17-62 years who were divided into two groups, including 38 diagnosed Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients from an outpatient clinic of endocrinology and 36 apparently healthy individuals that were selected from family members of cases group age-matched and sex-matched.
