Proton pump inhibitors, the treatment of choice for acid-related disorders, are often coadministered with other medications, sometimes with potentially adverse interactions. Although all agents studied may potentially interact with one proton pump inhibitor or another, a literature review documented adverse interactions for 10 medications in particular. Furthermore, 44% of people using proton pump inhibitors received another gastrointestinal drug. Although documented interactions involving these agents have been reported infrequently, the authors advise that physicians and pharmacists should recognize this possibility and watch for potentially problematic combination therapy.

Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most used drugs worldwide. While generally considered safe, the usage of PPIs is associated with several adverse outcomes including acute infectious diseases. PPIs influence macrophage and neutrophil function although a systematic review has never been undertaken.

Background: Anastomotic ulcers (AU) at the gastroenterostomy are a common postoperative complication after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB). Possible risk factors for ulcer formation include active smoking, the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, increased tension or ischemia at the anastomosis, or factors that increase the acid secretion of the gastric pouch. Therefore, a longer gastric pouch may increase risk of AU formation after LRYGB.

Over 15 000 species of fishes are found globally in the marine environment and DNA barcodes are used extensively to describe, catalogue, understand and manage this diversity. The dataset outlined here represents a DNA barcode reference library of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (COI) from 9767 voucher specimens (representing at least 2220 species and 288 families) of marine fishes. This publicly available dataset in the Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD) represents 17 years (2005-2022) of barcoding of marine fishes identified from Australian territorial waters.

Introduction: Endoscopic antireflux therapy has shown promising potential in the treatment for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). However, there is currently no universally accepted standard for endoscopic surgery. Therefore, we introduced antireflux mucosal valvuloplasty (ARMV), an innovative endoscopic treatment for GERD.

V-ATPases are ubiquitous and evolutionarily conserved rotatory proton pumps, which are crucial for maintaining various biological functions. Previous investigations have shown that a V-ATPase is present in the support cells of moth trichoid sensilla and influences their olfactory sensory neuron performance. Generally, V-ATPases are thought to regulate the pH value within the sensillum lymph, and aid K homeostasis within the sensillum.
