Calciphylaxis is a deadly disease that is currently diagnosed through a skin biopsy of resultant necrotic lesions despite many cases lacking this characteristic finding. Recently, research has demonstrated the ability of various radiologic techniques to detect calciphylaxis and have promoted their capabilities in earlier diagnosis without tissue invasion. In this case, an obese 55-year-old female with end stage renal disease, and a long history of dialysis, complained of weeks of persistent abdominal pain that was accompanied by a mottled, lacey, net-like rash that resembled livedo reticularis.

Livedo reticularis can present with progressive ischemia and diffuse cutaneous involvement with or without any evidence of systemic diseases. Livedo reticularis (LR) is a livedoid discoloration of the skin in a reticular pattern. We report the case of a 30-year-old male who presented with an asymptomatic, red-colored, net-like rash all over the body for 4 years.

Erythema ab igne (EAI) is a red-brown net-like hyperpigmentation due to repetitive exposure to submaximal heat over a long period of time. This rash is typically seen on the anterior lower legs of people who sit in front of open fireplaces or coal stoves and on the trunk of patients with chronic disorders who seek pain relief by long-term use of hot-water bottles or heating pads. EAI can not only be a diagnostic sign for underlying internal diseases including malignant tumors but can also give rise to cutaneous malignancies.
