: Codes of conduct for research integrity provide ambivalent guidance on the role that the values of society as well as political and economic interests can or should play in scientific research. The development of clearer guidance on this matter in the future should consider the attitudes of researchers.: We conducted 24 semi-structured interviews with holders of grants from the European Research Council and performed an inductive thematic analysis thereof.

Liberation is a multifaceted concept, often intertwined with psychological processes such as freedom from oppression and the ability to think and act freely. Historically, Western social psychologists have favored the individualistic notion of freedom over the collective effort of liberation. Shelf Life Enhancement of Structured Lipids Rich in Omega-3 Fatty Acids Using Rosemary Extract: A Sustainable Approach.

ACS Omega

July 2024

Department of Dairy Science and Food Technology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi 221005, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examines the effectiveness of rosemary extract (RE) in enhancing the stability of structured lipids made from perilla seed oil and palmolein under high-temperature storage.
  • The results showed that oil samples with 1500 ppm of RE had significantly better oxidative stability and improved quality parameters compared to those without any antioxidants, achieving reductions in several harmful indicators like free fatty acids and TOTOX value.
  • The study concluded that RE acts similarly to the synthetic antioxidant BHT, effectively inhibiting oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids and preserving beneficial compounds during storage.

July 2024

Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Biochemistry, Department of Food Science and Technology, School of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Environment, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), 54124 Thessaloniki, Greece.

An eco-friendly extraction process of polyphenols from conventional dried rosemary tissues and post-distillation waste residues was applied using β-cyclodextrin as a co-solvent. The aqueous extracts were characterized by measuring the total phenolic content, and their phenolic compounds were identified and quantified by LC-MS. Sodium alginate solutions (2% /) with/without incorporation of rosemary aqueous extracts were prepared and used for the preparation of O/W emulsions containing 20% rapeseed oil and an 80% water phase.
