The paper deals with the basic elements of up-to-date hardware for mammography, which determine the quality of X-ray diagnosis of breast diseases. With small-dose dosages, highly-informative images can be obtained by both perfect equipment and image visualization means, including intensifying screens and films, cassettes that measure respective exposures, absorbed doses and check up the conclusions made while analyzing clinical cases. Recommendations are given for choosing a screen-film system and cassettes of various firms and working conditions of photo laboratories in mammographic rooms by taking into account the specific features of manual and automatic film development. Main causes of obtaining a defective mammogram are considered.

Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of luminol and electrocatalysis by Prussian blue were compared for the selective detection of HO at the boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes. The HO detection was optimized by various parameters such as the applied potential at pH 7.4, which is a physiological value usually used for HO detection in enzymatic reactions.

Objective: Cognitive impairment (CI) is highly prevalent in subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) patients. The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT pathway plays a critical role in neuronal survival in a variety of central nervous system injuries. This study aimed to determine whether electroacupuncture (EA) at and LI20 ameliorates SAH-CI in a rat model and to examine whether it modulates the PI3K/AKT pathway by administering a PI3K inhibitor (LY294002) versus dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) vehicle.
