Published: October 2000

Legume seeds (soy bean, lupin and bean seeds) were soaked in 0.5% sodium bicarbonate in attempt to evaluate their nutritional quality and protein solubility index. Soaking process led to an increase in the hydration coefficient, seed weight, total protein, ash, fat, fiber, while non protein nitrogen, total carbohydrates, starch, stachyose, raffinose, reducing sugars, and minerals (except Na) were decreased. All antinutritional factors such as phytic acid, tannin, trypsin inhibitor and hemagglutinin activity were decreased during soaking in 0.5% sodium bicarbonate; it was the same for the protein solubility in different solutions, while the in-vitro protein digestibility and available lysine were increased.

Probing the properties of PTEN specific botulinum toxin type E mutants.

J Neural Transm (Vienna)

Botulinum neurotoxins (BoNT) are established biopharmaceuticals for neuromuscular and secretory conditions based on their ability to block neurotransmitter release from neurons by proteolyzing specific soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) proteins. Recently, a mutant catalytic domain of serotype E (LC/E) exhibiting 16 mutations was reported to cleave the phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN). This molecule represents an attractive new target in neurons as several reports support PTEN knockdown as a strategy to stimulate axonal regeneration after injury.

Background: ATOR-1017 (evunzekibart) is a human agonistic immunoglobulin G4 antibody targeting the costimulatory receptor 4-1BB (CD137). ATOR-1017 activates T cells and natural killer cells in the tumor environment, leading to immune-mediated tumor cell death.

Methods: In this first-in-human, multicenter, phase I study, ATOR-1017 was administered intravenously every 21 days as a monotherapy to patients with advanced, unresectable solid tumors having received multiple standard-of-care treatments.

Cuproptosis, a copper-dependent form of regulated cell death, has been implicated in the progression and treatment of various tumors. The copper ionophores, such as Disulfiram (DSF), an FDA-approved drug previously used to treat alcohol dependence, have been found to induce cuproptosis. However, the limited solubility and effectiveness of the combination of DSF and copper ion restrict its widespread application.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is one of the most common respiratory disease-causing viral agents. Swine infected with PRRSV exhibit severe respiratory symptoms and reproductive failure, leading to significant economic losses. To address this issue, inactivated and live-attenuated vaccines have been developed.

Electronic address:

Background: A recent study conducted by the laboratory of the first author revealed that major depression is composed of two distinct subtypes: major dysmood disorder (MDMD) and simple dysmood disorder (SDMD). The latter is a less severe phenotype with fewer aberrant biological pathways. MDMD, but not SDMD, patients were identified to have highly sensitized cytokine/growth factor networks using stimulated whole blood cultures.
