Women with extremely dense breasts are at a higher risk of breast cancer, and the sensitivity of mammography in this group is reduced due to the masking effect of overlapping tissue. This review examines supplemental screening methods to improve detection in this population, with a focus on MRI. Morphologic techniques offer limited benefits, digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) shows inconsistent results, and ultrasound (US), while improving cancer detection rates (CDR), results in a higher rate of false positives.

Objectives: An increasing number of patients with prostate cancer (PCa) undergo assessment with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PSMA-PET/CT). This offers comprehensive multimodality staging but can lead to discrepancies. The objective was to assess the rates and types of discordance between MRI and PSMA-PET/CT for primary PCa assessment.

Uncommon diterpenoids with diverse frameworks, including one unexpected iodinated oxa-6/6/6/6-tetracyclic diterpene () and its monobrominated 6/6/6-tricyclic analogue () and one novel isodolastane-type diterpene featuring an unusual aromatic 5/7/6-tricyclic ring system () as well as a related known dolastane-type diterpenoid (), were isolated from the South China Sea sponge . Their structures, including absolute configurations, were established by extensive spectroscopic data analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, and quantum mechanical-nuclear magnetic resonance and time-dependent density functional theory/electronic circular dichroism calculations. A plausible biosynthetic pathway of new compounds - was proposed.

The various forms of anthropogenic pollution are regarded as a serious threat to marine coastal areas. The overproduction and mismanagement of petroleum derivatives, such as tar and plastics, have resulted in a significant correlation between these two pollutants. The aggregation of tar, microplastics (MPs), and natural materials can create plastitar blocks, which are common in coastal areas.

Secondary metabolism is one of the main mechanisms uses to explore and colonize new niches, and 6-pentyl-α-pyrone (6-PP) is an important secondary metabolite in this process. This work focused on standardizing a method to investigate the production of 6-PP. Ethanol and ethyl acetate were both effective solvents for quantifying 6-PP in solution and had limited solubility in potato-dextrose-broth media.
