Silibinin (Sil) is a major bioactive component of silymarin, extracted from the fruit and seeds of Silybum marianum. Silibinin meglumine (SM) is a water-soluble derivative of silibinin that has shown significant potential in liver fibrosis. However, the potential effects and underlying mechanisms of SM on acute liver failure (ALF) are still not fully understood.

Pulmonary fibrosis is a pathological manifestation that occurs upon lung injury and subsequence aberrant repair with poor prognosis. However, current treatment is limited and does not distinguish different disease stages. Here, we aimed to study the differential functions of Axl, a receptor tyrosine kinase expressing on both macrophages and fibroblasts, in the whole course of pulmonary fibrosis.

Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) offers a rich nutritional profile with high protein content and abundant vitamins and minerals. Processing of faba beans for freezing requires blanching, yielding liluva (legume processing water), possibly containing leached macronutrients, with potential for upcycling.

Background: Neurodegenerative tauopathies may progress based on seeding by pathological tau assemblies, whereby an aggregate is released from one cell, gains entry to an adjacent or connected cell, and serves as a specific template for its own replication in the cytoplasm. Seeding into the complex cytoplasmic milieu happens within hours, implying the existence of unknown factors that regulate this process.
Methods: We used proximity labeling to identify proteins that control seed amplification within 5 h of seed exposure.

Background/objectives: Biofilm-associated infections, particularly those involving Candida auris and Staphylococcus aureus, pose significant challenges in clinical settings due to their resilience and resistance to conventional treatments. This study aimed to synthesize novel triazole derivatives containing a piperazine ring via click chemistry and evaluate their efficacy in disrupting biofilms formed by these pathogens.
Methods: Triazole derivatives were synthesized using click chemistry techniques.
