To determine whether evaluation comments differed based on preceptors' and students' genders, preceptors' evaluations of medical students were analyzed. Preceptors tended to comment on the same themes in the same proportions, regardless of gender. However, women preceptors commented about "Personality/Maturity" and "Personality/Character" more frequently for men students than they did for women students. Conversely, women preceptors commented about "Clinical Skills-Negative" more frequently for women students than for men.

Background: Preceptor nurses create a positive environment that helps new graduate nurses translate theoretical learning to clinical practice, facilitates their professional development, and increases their retention intention. However, few studies on preceptors' clinical teaching behavior, critical reflection competence, and clinical reasoning capabilities exist, and no studies have examined preceptor-preceptee work-ratios.

Background: Despite international consensus advocating a physiological approach to childbirth, there are inconsistent opinions on how to acquire the competencies needed to successfully carry out this approach. While continuity of care experiences (CoCE) within placements is a valued educational strategy, there are limited studies that focus on the learning experiences to support physiological birth.

Context: The pelvic examination is a fundamental tool for the evaluation and diagnosis of women's health conditions and an important skill for all medical students to learn as future physicians for the early detection of treatable conditions such as infection or cancer. Although the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) asserts that performing pelvic examinations under anesthesia for educational purposes should only occur if the patient provides explicit and informed consent, there still have been reports of medical students performing pelvic examinations on anesthetized patients across the country, and many states are now starting to pass bills requiring informed patient consents to conduct pelvic examinations under anesthesia.
Objectives: The objectives of this study are to evaluate the prevalence of pelvic examinations performed by osteopathic medical students on anesthetized patients without consent while fulfilling their third-year OB-GYN clerkship requirements.
