In mice, naturally occurring and induced mutations in the suppressor of cytokine signaling-2 () gene are associated with a high growth phenotype characterized by rapid post-weaning weight gain and 30-50% heavier mature body weight. In this work, we demonstrate an electroporation-based method of producing knock-out (KO) sheep. Electroporation of dual-guide CRISPR-Cas9 ribonucleoprotein complexes targeting was performed 6 h post-fertilization in sheep zygotes.

Starvation, which is associated with inactivation of the growth-promoting TOR complex 1 (TORC1), is a strong environmental signal for cell differentiation. In the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, nitrogen starvation has distinct physiological consequences depending on the presence of mating partners. In their absence, cells enter quiescence, and TORC1 inactivation prolongs their life.

Human oocyte maturation is a lengthy process that takes place over the course of which oocytes gain the inherent ability to support the next developmental stages in a progressive manner. This process includes intricate and distinct events related to nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation. Nuclear maturation includes mostly chromosome segregation, whereas rearrangement of organelles, storage of mRNAs and transcription factors occur during cytoplasmic maturation.

As a prerequisite for the success of embryo development, embryonic genome activation (EGA) is an important biological event in which zygotic gene products in the embryo are activated to replace maternal-derived transcripts. Although EGA has been extensively studied in a large number of vertebrates and invertebrates, there is a lack of information regarding this event in crustacean crab. In this study, the timing of EGA was confirmed by examining a transcriptomic dataset of early embryonic development, including mature oocytes and embryos through six early developmental stages, and signaling pathways associated with EGA were identified in the mud crab, S.

This retrospective study utilized a mixed-effects logistic model analysis to investigate variables associated with the probability of pregnancy loss (PL) between days 30 and 70 in a dataset comprising 9507 pregnancies from a single cattle herd over 10 years. The model incorporated fixed-effect variables including cow breed (Holstein, Crossbred, and Brown Swiss), parity (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th or more), insemination seasons, insemination number (≤3 vs >3), estrus nature (spontaneous vs synchronized), postpartum problems, sire breed (Holstein, Fleckvieh, Brown Swiss, and Montbéliarde), zygote genotypic (pure vs crossbred), days in milk (DIM) at insemination, actual 305-day milk yield, and sire conception rate. Additionally, random effects included sire (n = 129), cow (n = 3463), and production years (n = 10).
